S14...What front wheel/tire setup would look correct???

This is sort of an extention to my last thread:

I am currently running in the REAR of my S14--18x9.5 +12 fn01r-c's with 235/40/18 falken ziex 512

I bought 17x9 +15 in the front because i like the rake look. I cannot purchase tires yet until i can be sure which tire size will look correct with my setup. I will be purchasing tein he's for this set up.

--235/40/17 OR 225/45/17 ???????????

-thanks much!!

what is "correct"?

i'm assuming you don't care about performance because of those sizes and the tires, so just get whatever's cheaper since its just daily driver rollers

Go with 235/40. Looks good, fits great. 225/45 will be a bit too streched/tall for the best performance. Here is the best photo I have of that tire on a my 9s in front.

speedmonkey, aren't your front wheels 17x9 +24?

Since he's running +15, won't he have less fender clearance on a 235/40?
Nothing a roll and camber won't solve, but he should know that its needed

The wheels are +24 yes, but I am running a 5mm spacer. True, less clearance like you say but its really not that much on my car, so an additional 4mm won't be that big a deal. But you are right, if you are going to be running 9s you need to be willing to make them fit. It also depends on ride hight. If you car is not that low, less work is needed.

i am considering an 8.5 in front, +22, and then i should have the option of running 235/40 or 235/45 depending on what the tire comes in (doubt any tire comes in both).

The azenis sport rt615 comes in 235/40, the MX comes in 235/45...so we'll see

damn volk for not making face-2 for any of their wheels less than 9inch

speedmonkey...what size tires are you running in the rear...they look really wide. On mine it seems like the 235/40/18's barely clear but i guess its because of the low offset on the rim.

I think i will go with the 235/40/17's and just roll and hope for the best...im going with falken fk451's on the front and eventually the same type on the rear when the ziex wear out.

255/40/17 on 10.5 inch rim with +27mm offset. I love it, really good grip.

hey...i got a quick wheel question to anyone who may know this...

-im interested in the Volk TE37 rims but i dont know at which width they come with a sunken face...im pretty sure volk makes a 18x9.5 and an 18x10.5. Im very sure the 10.5 must be sunken/slant face but is the 9.5 as well??? Or any other sizes for that matter??? And is it the width of the rim or the offset that determines whether it has a sunken face or not???

Thanks, no pulling. Just a minor roll. The wheels don't clear the control arms and coilover with out a 5mm spacer because the car is so low. At a higher ride height the wheels didn't need a spacer. I am going to need to roll a bit more and maybe pull just a bit once the spacers go in the rear.
Sorry, don't know anything about the Volks.

yes, some sizes come in Face 1 or Face 2

ask the guy ur buying the volks from, tell him u want face 2
face 1 is flat spokes, but more lip (typically)

face 2 is sunken spokes, less lip (typically)

there's a face 3 on some gramlights, but i dont know what that looks like

I am fairly certain that a 17x9 +22 has face 2, that is a GT-R size

top secret: 40 offset, 30 ofset, WAY TOO BIG

25 or less if you want any hope at coilover clearance, even lower depending on tire size, camber, and how picky you are about flushness (depends on the aero you have, also)

the te37 has far more offsets than the ones you list, it's just that some sizes may require you to wait for it to be built and shipped from japan.

if u want something good, u'll be willing to wait
...even if waiting sucks
