OEM or aftermarket bearings
Im building my SR and cant decide on wether to go with clevite/acl or just go back with oem main bearings. Im fully built with rods, pistons, head built, but before I go back together I would like to know are OEM main bearings cool to go back together with. Im looking around the 500hp range also. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP

OEM would be the best option. ACL are all one size, typically there is a variance from one bearing to the next. With ACL bearings, one may be too tight or loose, which can be corrected with a different size. OEM has a wide range of sizes.

OEM all the way. I think there are 4 sizes available for standard and reground. If you are sure the block has never been machined, use the numbers on crank / rods / block to get the right reference. If you are unsure, use plastigauge.
OEMs are tri metal, too. |
