go with 15w at least. 5w? to thin, not needed if its warm outside. The further apart the 2 numbers the less stable the becomes under high operation. Great for every day use, bad for racing. WTF is greddy oil anyways? You pay $5 for oil and $5 for the greddy sticker on it.

this thread is full of shit.
5w30 read the FSM and look at the temp ranges. Maybe bump it up to 40 for hard track in the summer...? although it should be changed back to 30 when you go back to normal high way driving. Dont use anything over 10w. Majority of engine wear is from start up. Anything thicker is going to cause even mroe premature wear on start up.

I've got Mobil1 5W30 for almost a year, done almost 3000km half of that autocross. The oil got tar black. And its not even that hot where I live. 18-25°C during the summer.
Won't use such thin oil ever again. |

Don't buy greddy oil it probably some cheap synthetic rebranded as greddy. I doubt Greddy has the money let alone the facility to manufacture its own oil. If you want to run some quality oil look into Titan, Lubromoly, Pentosin Quartz. You probably have never heard of these brands but from my experience Mobil 1 is alright at best, and like the posts above run a 10 or 5w-40.

Get my shit together huh? Im trying to help you but you would rather talk down to me. I made the assumption about Greddy oil because it's primary focus as a company is aftermarket parts, not high performance lubricants which is a multi-million dollar undertaking on its own. I have never seen, heard, spoke to anyone who used greddy motor oil except for you. Based on your mediocre question you probably think greddy puts some kind of unobtainium additive that guarantees 20WHP. The fact that you think you know where there oil is made doesn't matter, quality is the deciding factor for me. Based on the fact that nobody in formula drift, scca, or any automotive racing institution that I know of using greddy oil it probably isn't that great. It's your money go burn it in the name of greddy, lol.

Right now I'm kinda curious, can anyone please find spec so I can compare greddy to other real oil manufactures.
For example here is mobil http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...duct_Guide.pdf |

does the viscosity and weight affect the consumption of oil?? as in, thinner oil in warmer atmospheric temps will cause oil to slip past the rings and smoke from the exhaust because of a thinner oil??? its getting hotter here in houston and im running 5w30. my motor only has 600 miles on it and i noticed that it smokes at idle but never smokes when im driving. could this be caused by a thinner oil??
