Longboarders?
Any other longboard skateboarders on here? I started getting into it recently with my roomates board, just cruising around town& wanted one of my one so I started lookin stuff up. I am curious as to what every one else is skating with and what companies make good boards etc
Ive found some seemingly legit companies.. Original Skateboards www.originalskateboards.com Loaded LoadedBoards.com - Loaded Boards, Vanguard, Pintail, Fish, Hammerhead, Carving Systems, Freeride, Longboards, Skateboards, Snowboards Sector 9 www.sector9.com So if you have a longboard & use it post up what you have, what you use it for, how much it cost & where you got it from etc etc...

$50 craigslist SCORE!!! north tahoe brand, idk how long, its a shorter one to kick turn and power into carves. Ill get a pic of it when i recover it from my friends garage. use it for cruising boardwalks and carving down OB pier. havent bombed/carved any real hills yet but i plan to.
if youre looking for one to buy, just surf craigslist. even if the wheels dont spin forever, its just bearings which are like $12, make sure the axles on the trucks arent rusted or beat, that will affect wheel spin. and get softer wheels. i have 78a on both my skate and longboard and love em. I ride a riviera with ultra lite trucks. Its a short board. I just cruise around everywhere. I don't bomb hills cuz I catch way too much speed.

that is a SICK vid, thanks for sharing. Reminds me of knee dragging on my bike. Im pretty sure the only way i would carve like that with any ridiculous speed (30+mph)would be in a leather suit. Not being a vag, but medical bills arent cool.
that looks fun and manageable though. |

Vid is cool.
Now I want to go do this, although I'd assuredly impale myself on a mailbox or something.

I had a sector 9. Good board. Pops ran it over with his car.
Ive had a few longboards though- I prefer smaller ones. Little less steady at higher speeds, but you can really carve with em. |

Loaded is legit, and the first ones with drop in trucks but they are hella expensive, one guy said he would hook me up for a 37" pintail at $250!!
Im not tryin to cheap out but damn, and there is Original who is out of stock EVERYWHERE but their Path 37 is only $170. Its alot of fun to do when your bored or commuting around town, I use it when going to/from parking lots at GCC.

ha, thats weird. i was gonna make a thread earlier about this.
anywho, i just recently picked up a sector 9 flex board from my friend for 50 bucks, he had it for a while but never really used it. i had independent trucks and big fatty wheels laying around. rides smooth and nice. but i was thinking of making a low rider out of it. get 10'' wide independent trucks, remove the risers. should be pretty nice. what u guys think? |

Been meaning to get a longboard to simply cruise around. Seeing that vid got me looking at craigslist ads again.
Once I have time I'll get into it.

I used to travel to IGSA races but gave it up. I just cruise around now. I have an insect giant slalom deck and a loaded dervish.
Its really handy to have the GS deck for ripping around campus. |

Ive heard good things about Sector 9 but they are EVERYWHERE & the decks kinda bore me, Kracked Skulls seems to be doin it for the love of it
Original trucks have coil springs in them, which is just so appealing to me. Original said they will have the Hybrid 35 in stock next week so I think Ill go with them. ZX88-I thought about doin the ebay thing but this is something I wanna do for fun, I dont have many hobbies other than cars & when I get aggravated with cars I wanna just GO & enjoy it, no assembly required ha

that seems like a good option, but I too rather just buy something and have it be there when I want to ride rather then mix and match things till I find something I like.

i have a few sector nines, some no names, and a 1970 super surfer that still has the original loose bearings. ill post pics later. |

^^^vid reminds me of Sergio Yuppie.
My cousin's sponsored by rogers bros. and some other companies. He competes in those IGSA races and placed in the top 4 at Maryhill. Shreds down GMR and Baldy daily. I just ride my little campus board to get around.

Picked one up from Kracked Skulls in Wyoming, this guy makes em himself by himself.
I got a 38" for $175 shipped! I put it together and took it outside immediately, wicked fun! HELLA loose trucks and the turnin radius is nuts Then I did the grip tape myself I have some freak obsession with checkers lately

So yeah, just got a Flexdex Pro 40 with Randal R-II's, Dados, and some off-brand ABEC 7's I'm actually decently impressed with. En route to my house is some 70mm Tunnel Tarantula's in Orange swirl. Mad stoked about the board and all the chill times I've been having rolling around. Even decided to buy my girl one. Got her a Moose board from TGMSkateboards.com for 85$ and it's a champion. Blank board in the shape of a pretty wide pintail with Randal R-II's, TGM 76mm Wheels, and some crappy ABEC5 (I think) bearings that I'll be replacing for her. Great beginner board for the price and it's a sound investment for how much it was with the Randals and the deck quality is pretty good. |
