Problem shimming my solid :(
So I have tomei solid lifter and last night, I start shimming the intake side.
I checked my clearance with my feeler gauge and it was all between 0.0135 to 0.0185. So for example. If I take the 0.0185 gap ... In mm. its 0.470mm According to Nissan fsm, the gap supose to be between 0.14 to 0.17mm. L'ets make it in the middle so 0.155mm Now for knowing the correct shim size, Tomei says in their manual the following equation. (My mesured gap) minus (the nissan recommended gap) multiply by (1.43) plus (the thickness of my test shim) (0.470 - 0.155) x 1.43 + 2.800 = 3.250mm The problem is that nissan doesnt make big size like this..... So what im supose to do ??????..... Oh and by the way... I have a fully built head with BC valve, retainer & spring, tomei cams and 3angle valve job .... don't know if this help |

doesnt tomei make a shim set for their solid lifters?
found a link. looks like this site sells shims that are different sizes for your set up. Tomei Lifter Shim BP 3.65 [TO-1610203650] EDO Performance also. try to use less shims. you have to worry about oil clearences too. less shims equal more accurate measurements. i had a friend who did this and made custom solid lifters for his sr20. his motor was able to rev to 10k rpm.

Wow thanks you..
It's weird because in the Tomei manual, they didn't mention they make bigger size than 3.2mm. The link you gave me is just for the shim. Now i have to found the guide. And what do you mean when you talk about ''try to use less shims''. I only use one shim. ???? thx |
