Help: S14 SRS AiR Bag Blinking, doesn?t stop.

Hello, to start off the convo, I?ve researched already and was not able to resolve the issue.

Question: Got a 95 s14, and the cluster doesn?t stop blinking the ?Airbag light?. I could take off the bulb on the cluster, but I prefer not.

Anyone successfully been able to turn off the airbag light on the cluster?

Some more info needed...

Did the blinking start out of nowhere, or was there something that happened to the car that made it start blinking?

Do you want to fix it the right way, or just get rid of the blinking light on your cluster?

The problem occurred on its own. The light keeps on blinking on a never ending loop, on off on off…

I have the stock steering wheel. I disconnected the battery and it did not help reset. I followed an online tutorial that apparently applies to all Nissans, older and new Gen vehicles.

I looked at the FSM and I did not find anything related to this issue.

I just want to fix it the right way and not take off the cluster bulb.

There is not a bulb you can take out. It is an LED built into the circuit board. You can take apart the cluster and cover it; however. First I would be investigating whether the SRS system is intact and everything plugged in. Personally I disable mine. These cars are 25+ years old now remember.

Thanks for the feedback, you?re rights it?s a led bulb built into the circuit board of the cluster, that?s what I meant to say.

1. Open the driver door.
2. Get in the car and shut the door.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the on position but do not start the car.
4. Open the driver door.
5. Press the "door ajar" switch in door frame 7 times.
6. Close the driver door.
7. Start the car.

This is the correct procedure for re-setting the airbag light. If it continues to blink after this, there's a problem with the crash sensor in the front of the car or perhaps the cluster has lost continuity with the circuit.

I'd recommend removing the airbags at this stage in the car's life. You don't want it exploding in your face if you hit a bump in the road or launch your car hard.

Before you just scrap the whole airbag system, try reading the error code. Put it into diagnostic mode by doing this slightly different procedure:

1. Open the driver door and leave it open.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the on position but do not start the car.
3. Within 7 seconds, press the "door ajar" switch in door frame 5+ times.
4. After 7 seconds, press the "door ajar" switch one more time.

The SRS light will do one long (3 second) blink, followed by a series of fast (half second) blinks. Count the fast blinks.

2 = bad driver's airbag

7 = bad airbag module

8 = bad passenger's airbag

9 = multiple faults

If the fault is 2 or 8 try just unplugging the indicated bag and cleaning the contacts. If the driver's airbag is the problem it could also be a busted clockspring - does your horn work? If your clockspring is bad... then you are kind of boned and might as well tear it out, it's a 240SX specific part and apparently they are still available but over $1000. Same if the control module is bad and just cleaning the contacts doesn't fix it.

Update: I followed these steps and the light was rest on my first attempt. There where no fast blinks, but long 3 second blinks as indicated above. To ensure the problem was resolved, I turned off the car cracked it back up, drove for a few min around the block, parked it and cranked it up again. SRS light turned on and off as it would normally display on my s14 prior to the SRS light giving me these symptoms leading to my original post.

Thanks for the help everyone!
