Ditto. Despite having a nearly 6 figure household income, I doubt I will ever in my life own a car that is less than 10 years old. I'm too used to being a cheap fuck to buy new. I buy cheap as hell and treat 'em like a backpage girl. And the 335i coupe looks just like my kinda slut - Looks classy, but it's really cheap & easy.
Man up I'm totally on there same page as you in regards to Nissan and buying new. I pretty much have to have a newer CUV but I can't wait to trade in my Pathfinder.

^^^I feel you on the suv thing bruh. After debating what next vehicle i should buy for daily duty & hauling my kid around, I've finally settled on an 11th gen F150 Lariat. Keeping my 240 too though for now, but it's days are numbered.

Yeah I have three kids and have no choice in having a three row CUV. If I just got a two row car the essentially becomes a two seater. Luckily with how popular CUVs are there's some nice options now like the new CX-9 cl coming out and the Volvo XC90. I'm Salado interested in the new Acadia since GM right sized it and it's down 700 lbs.

BMW. They'll change their mind and refuse to offer a manual transmission option, just like they're doing with the rest of their cars.

My guess is these two will be indistinguishable from each other. Not like the FRS/ BRZ.

I do not think this will be a worthwhile collaboration. Toyota's track record on these thing is not great. While some may like the 86 twins reliability wise they have suffered for it.
I am also no fan of Magna Styr production builds at all. Mini Clubmans are straight up piles of junk, of course all,the new mini's are straight piles of junk mechanically speaking anyways. Lol
Anyways few new BMW's are worth taking note of and I would seriously be surprised if this joint venture was any better.
Face it guys outside of Honda and Mazda , Nissan and Toyota have lost their balls and are no longer willing to take chances on their own.
Personally I never felt Toyota had much to offer on their own having always relied on Yamaha engine tech to makes things happen.
At least Nissan was willing to do it all on their own terms, cough...cough..until Frenchman decide to castrate them for the sake of the bean counters.

It's amazing how many people don't realize Ghosen is the reason we still don't have any cool Nissan cars. The GTR is a Halo car, and yes its cool, but its also getting up there in age. Even the Z chassis(FM platform) is aging horribly. The platform is around 17 years old if you include development time. Some of that was likely designed under pre Ghosen Nissan, even the Enhanced FM(just bigger) is 10 years old already.

^Yeap. Ghosen saved the company destroyed the race brand and continues to make Nissan boring. Rinse repeat end of story.

I was thinking of what engine the New Z5/Supra could use and logically it seems to me the N55 would be the choice. That or the S55.

Yeah in this thread, the majority of Nissan lovers don't know jack shit about the company. You could go to a meet with 100 Nissan enthusiasts and I bet you could fit the number who know that Ghosen is screwing Nissan in a S14.

I know it's been said a million times, but I just don't see Nissan or Toyota coming out with anything that can compete with the American side of the house. I mean, shit... You can buy a base model 2015 Mustang GT for $25-26k. New 2016 bases go for $28.

It think it would just be too difficult for them to keep in the horsepower war, develop a chassis worth driving and keep it at 30k or below.

I disagree.

One single person does not dictate policy at a transnational company.

Ghosen is representative of Nissan as a whole and those who work there. The problem is systemic.

This is a problem across the board with Japanese industry actually.

Japan as a whole has not done shit since 1985-1995. They have fallen behind on every single market, product and industry just about.

The biggest problem is the Japanese are too focused on the small insignificant Japanese market. The GT86 was a raving success. They sold more in Japan than in the US or Europe (each 4 X the market).

Its pretty accepted that most of what fixed Nissan came top down, its also the same stuff that keeps them running the way they are. These are policies set in motion by Ghosen, even if he did not pen them himself he still set the framework.

Yeah the guy gives zero fucks about enthusiast culture. He's so tunnel-vision'ed on the Leaf and anything EV/high-MPG right now. That's what's selling.

I will give him that, high MPG cars are not selling very well right now due to cheap oil prices, but he does see the long game there, they will be going back up and all the idiots that traded their Leaf's in for SUVs are going to be back. At the same time though he could do as Ford did, make a cheap econobox that gets damn good MPG for the masses, then shove a turbo engine in it with improved suspension and some body work to set it apart for about 5000 units a year. Then again it would end up being FWD and based off a 15 year old chassis.

If EV and hybrid is the future then give me a decent rwd coupe hybrid. I don't want a ff kei or micro car.
