Subaru should just be embarrassed now. --- http://jalopnik.com/the-2016-bmw-m2-...o-s-1759530031 Too pricey now, but in about 3 years I will be looking to pick one of these up.

Subaru should be embarrassed for the last 4 or 5 years. Minus the hood scoop on some models the majority of their line lost its uniqueness. Now it just looks like every other Honda or Toyota out there. You used to know a Legacy was a Subaru.

Take the badges off a lot of that middle segment and they all just kind of blend together, but Subaru has gone from standing out to falling right in line with that BLAH who cares look. I guess looking like everyone else sells enough cars.

But with that said... I'm not excited about the M2. I think a used M235i would more than suit my needs with a lower price. I just don't see the point of the M2 with the same six year old N55. That that has 100hp less than the M4. I was really hoping it would get a detuned version of the S55.

I want an electric power steering pump and some way to use that parking lot vriable steering on a traditional fluid system. Benefits of both, and none of the downsides of electrical. I have to say as shitty as I though electric steering would be across the board it's not actually the worst thing in the world.

If BMW would sell models with similarly Spartan feature sets as they traditionally were I'd be all about it.
I don't want electronically adjustable suspension. I don't want iDrive. I don't need 500 pounds of sound deadening. I don't need sport mode steering.

The funny thing is though, they both love crowds. Albeit the mustang significantly more.

This is the main reason I can't get excited about Tesla yet. Piles. Of. Shit. The issues are almost comical. Tesla needs 2 or 3 generations more before they actually start figuring this stuff out. It really emphasizes how hard it actually is to build a solid car.
http://jalopnik.com/the-tesla-model-...ues-1771913072 And people are sooooo blinded by the ideology that they don't even care they are buying a car that makes 90's Audi's look dependable.

They are not blinded. They are tolerant. When you spend $7k on a Chevette that gets 20mpg and falls apart, or $6k on a Civic that gets 40mpg and runs forever... Yeah, you get mad at Chevy. When you spend $60k on a Ferrari 308, you already know you need a Mechanic with a flatbed and pager. That article specifically says why they are tolerate as well. They see themselves as supporting and upstart that is trying to revolutionize the industry and make lasting significant changes to the world. If everyone just said "fuck it" when their DOS/Windows 3.1 Blue Screened every five minutes... We wouldn't be having this discussion online. |

It's not that I don't think old datsuns weren't super cool, it's just they did have teething issues, new stuff usually does

You are not their target market anyways. Their target market is lawyers making 100+ grand a year who also have a few other cars like a 911. A few people at my work own them, not a single problem from either, but if one did he would just come in in his Carrera 4s while Tesla towed his car from his house to get fixed.

Outside of the fact that Nissan really did not have their water drain tech down in the 70's those old Datsuns were actually extremely reliable cars. It pretty much built Nissan and made them. They were the economy, sporty car and truck to buy in the 70's with Toyota only Starting to make headway towards the end of the decade. Toyota and Honda would really hit their stride in the 80's. No teething issues both Toyota and Datsuns were sold in the U.S. in the 60's. 510's and 240z's took off like rocket ships. They sold so many that they were very prevelant on the used market right into the end of the 80's straight into the 90's. There are still a lot of S30 Z's out there and up until around 3-4 years ago could still be had for as low as 3-4K. A car that had severe reliability issues does not last in large numbers 30-40 years out. To try and compare modern Tesla's to those cars is ludicrous. Nissan had been making cars since before WWII, in various different namesakes. They restarted at the end of WWII. By the time they hit in the 70's they were already a 18-20 year old modern car company. Tesla has been around what 7-8 years in very limited uber expensive production. Hell the first Tesla was basically a Lotus Exige with electric motors slapped into it. The Model S is the first all Tesla car the company has built.

But you are not, people that buy these cars go in knowing there are problems, and the lengths that Tesla will go to make it right. Your unwillingness to help them learn and expand makes you out of their target market.
