I think vendor/member Toby Broadfield has some good theft prevention measures available. Try looking him up on here.

Most of the main points were covered, trust nobody, lo jack, alarm systems(with tilt sensor), power/fuel kill switches, garage kept, park smart, never hurts to keep weapons at the house, and if all else fails, buy a ford escort... Best anti theft ever. If someone steals that from you, then I feel bad for you and the thief both hahaha.

If someone with a flatbed shows up, hooks up your car, tows it onto the truck, and sets the alarm off it will probably not be reported. Most people will assume its either parked illegally or its being repossessed. I can remember at least one Honda that was stolen locally where it was hooked to a flatbed, dragged through the yard, in daylight, and none of the neighbors or anyone else reported it.

You could build your own setup using RFID. Id trust it over an out of the box security system since you would be the only person who knows the exact setup. Lots of car makers build chips into their keys, my 01 Prelude has this from the factory, wrap the plastic portion of the key in aluminum foil and the car won't start. Its also what all the new key fob only cars use. It can be beaten (insurance companies disagree and regularly deny theft claims for key fob only cars) but its pretty cool shit and most thieves will just move on to something easier.

that why you have the police siren go off with the alarm. the entire neighborhood would hear it. it cant be ignored.

You're missing my point. If people see a car getting loaded onto a tow truck they generally don't call the police, even if the alarm is going off. The tow truck makes it look like a legitimate situation even if its not. Also, car alarms go off all the time and most people just ignore them because we've all gotten used to them going off. How many times have you actually responded to a car alarm going off by investigating it or calling the police?
