No he means the pumpkin is 2 inches longer length wise to the drive shaft.

But why would it be longer?

You've probably got an ABS differential and you're trying to use it on a non-ABS car (with non-ABS driveshaft).

Swap the drive shaft too?

Wait wait. I'm thinking of S14/S15 diffs.

Is there a difference between the cars in terms of A/T and M/T?

Those driveshafts are def. different.

IIRC, S13 ABS diffs have the two sensor setup like Z32, where S14/S15 have one sensor at the front. Fuck I can't remember! My brain is all melty.

Haha no both cars are m/t.

One is a wrecked sr'd s13 hatch, the other a ka s13 coupe.

There is one little plug coming off the diff that wasn't connected to anything when it was on the hatch. (I assume this had to do with abs)

Would simply putting the drive shaft that's on the hatch onto the coupe solve the problem?

It should, but before you go unbolting anything, take a measurement first!

Will do.

Luckily we did that with the pumpkins first, before we went to town.

Thanks

So after all the shit and all the unbolting and time. We couldn't get the bolts off from the drive shaft without stripping them.

But will it still fit?

I've never dealt with diffs before.

as far dealing with the cover. doesnt really matter on the rear cover 2 bolt vs 4 bolt. all the 4 bolt are the same. but when try to mate it 2 axles side by side check the length on it. if you are using 300zx factory axles it wont fit. i had this prob before. i tihnk you need to make mix match with diff 5 bolt axle. if you have a problem for connecting the drive shaft. try to grind a small piece from the joint. itll slide through. the reason it wont go in because of the spline with a nut in the way.

The axles line up fine.

It's just the pumpkin is 2 inches longer, but the drive shafts on the two cars are the same size... so I'm guessing if we make it fit it will haha

You have an a VLSD diff with ABS.

Your going to need an abs driveshaft to bolt it up flush.

Take out your friends driveshaft and swap it with yours. That should fix the problem.

How did you manage to strip the bolts?

I have the abs drive shaft too.

Measured them and put them side by side and they looked exactly the same though. But, I wasn't the one doing the measuring soo... I will just go pick it up and do this shit tomorrow.

I mean..

In general..If both cars had driveshafts attached to the diff's and drove perfectly fine.

then if you were to swap out diffs and driveshafts onto each others chassis's is should mount up correctly without any problems.

Just got to figure out how to get the drive shaft bolts off without stripping them. Those bastards just do not want to come off.

get a ratcheting wrench.

and a breaker bar.

Done.

Take off the e-brake..spin the driveshaft...then lift up the e-brake.

Get the other bolts.

Done.

Yeah I know that much...

But the sockets+ratchet are too big to fit in the space lol

I was too tired to deal with this shit today.

Yeah, that's what I planned on doing.

The drive shaft and vlsd are out of the other car already.

It's my drive shaft's bolts that wont come undone without going gay...
