coupe to hatch conversion?

Hey guys I was wondering, this may sound completely stupid, and extremely noobish, but is it possible to turn a coupe rearend into a hatch? if its possible, lmk what i need. I need to figure this out because there a coupe shell thats rust free, but i have a hatch that is rusted on the rockers/framerails, etc. and i dont really like coupes, so i want to convert it into a hacth, so i can have a rust-free hatch. LMK if this is possible, Thanks guys.

And if this is completely rediculous, try not to be a dick or smart ass and say how stupid it is, I'm just trying to figure out if its possible. Thanks again,

if avoiding rust replacement is your justification for asking this question you obviously dont have the means to take on such a task



old mustangs are sometimes hacked up from coupes to fastbacks.. but dont try it on a 240...

alright dude it was just a question to see if its possible, and i honestly dont care if im not an "expert" on a 240 project, like i said if your gonna say something about how stupid this thread is or why im asking it, dont bother to post, i was just wondering if theyre the same lengths of the rearend, meaning would the back hatch glass/trunk repleace/match-up where the coupe trunk ends. i can do the welding, but i dont have the car with me as of right now so i cant really do any measurements, so i was just wondering if anyone had done this b4 and knows if its possible. And actually the real reason why im doing this is because a guy is willing to buy my coupe, but he wants a hatch, so i was going to see if i could swap the parts from his hatch to this non rusted coupe, because up here in chicago the rockers and frame rails are complete shit do to rust. so thats why i asked...thanks guys

no sorry i cant do any trades, i can only do cash...i need around 800 bucks for me to have another shell shipped here, which is a hatch, i already have an sr engine ready to be put in, but i need the money to pay the shippers to get it down here. otherwise i would do a trade for sure, but just need cash for right now, sorry

haha holy shit, I love this place sometimes. and if you have both cars why not just take the measurements? its not that important to have the car right away or you would just buy a new shell

p.s. I did read your post, though I almost stopped after you said "I don't like coupes" right there I knew this was going to turn out bad...people with bad taste are the reason my neighbor has fake r32 taillights on his busted ass single cam coupe.

well i new it was possible for a mustang, liek the guy pointed out earlier, but i wanted to see if it was possible for a240, that way i can have it sold and get my money on time before monday

its all about opinion, and i dont have either shell with me at the moment, the coupes at my aunts house, and the hatch is going to be shipped to my house, which is why i need the money, for the shipping. A guy from CL asked me if there was a way to convert the rust free coupe shell, into a hatch, and i wasnt able to take the measurement or do anything to figure it out soi decided to ask some zilvians, but apparently its not able to be done and im a complete dumbass for trying to get my car sold...the guy doesn like coupes either, which is why he was going to let me take the parts off his hatch, and put them onto the rust-free coupe shell, since his is big time rusted. thanks

There's a reason why people with first gen Mustangs do fastback conversions... Fastbacks are fairly rare. Coupes are plentiful.

S13s, on the other hand... Coupes are less common than liftbacks. And really, there's no fucking point. Can it be done? Probably. Are you retarded for wanting to do something so completely pointless when you can just trade the clean coupe for a clean hatch? Yes.
