My Project in Abu dhabi, Chassis not able to register

Hi all.

So the story of this project so car as been a total nightmare..
to cut a long story short ill just write up the basics and get to the latest issue i'm facing at this moment in time..

Bought the 240sx about a year ago. it already come with a sr20det installed.
its a 1989 so basically nothing was working on the cluster.

added a boost controller t25 turbo made no power even when i turned it up to 12 psi.
decided to get a bigger turbo, t28(but not a t28). also a nistune to tune it up. nightmare installing it. ended up needing a new wiring system. got that all working after a many moon.

tune didn't make as much as expected. anyway its livable 250 whp.

many other isses but nothing to write home about on here,

registration ran out during all the upgraded. once id got it all sorted.
took it in for its test.. came back with the cars been in a crash...! coz the chassis is all bent.. i tried to explain it was coz the rails on these are weak.. there having non of it..

now i dunno if this car has been cashed or not.. i dunno the last owners and when it came to the UAE from the US. but it dont look bad at all. IMO

anyway please have a look throw my pictures and see what ya think..

any feed back on the rails will be beneficial...
Ive given the car to a accident repair shop to have a look at.

is there a possibility of getting new OEM rails. but im guessing since production stopped these are like rocking horse s***t

have a look and thanks in advance

The car looks pretty good.

The rails on the bottom are easy to bend, and can even be replaced.

Are you worried something is wrong with the car, or will your local authorities not allow you to register the car?

A lot of the time the frame rails are pinch welds get damaged from pulling out of driveways, going over speed bumps, or jacking the car up.

If the car is from the US, you could also have someone Carfax.com it for you to see if they can find any info on it.

Hey Zar thanks.

I will have to check this CarFax.com out.. This car has been in the UAE a number of years and been registered in 2 different Emirates. im fairly sure if there was a problem with it. it wouldn't have passed the first time.. but you never really know how that went down.

So you can get OEM rails from somewhere. I had a good on web and couldn't find any.. Are they still producing them?

I cant really go after market. the UAE test centre will spot it a mile off.. and say its been repaired from accident.

Infact.. my best wishes are that the Repair garage come back with yes we can straighten this crooked old ones back into a decent shape / remove the rust from sills and Under seal it.

Coz putting new ones in there never look as good as when these rails are welded in by robots. and the test centre will spot ive had them changed..

is idea of straightening out the old ones a possible solution?.. or has anyone got any better idea.. thanks

Frame rails look crushed from improper jacking, NOT a crash. It should be obvious to anyone looking at it. Not sure why they're giving you the runaround.

Clean car!

I agree that the frame rails look like the were jacked incorrectly. what kind of crash would cause damage to that one area but not to the floor pan of the car?

you can, as someone already stated, order new frame rails for the rear section.
Japanese 180sx and silvia did not even come with that rear section of frame rail, it was only added on for export market.

The rails are bent from lifting the car improperly, and in your pics you are also lifting it improperly at some points. You are not supposed to lift under the chassis rails.
You're saying that if you replace the rails with new oem parts they won't accept it? Are you guys not allowed to repair your vehicles there or something? This doesn't make any sense.

Yeah Front side Lifting is on the rails. but cant go any further inside the exhaust is in the way .. and outside of the rail is the floor. which is made of even weaker cheese than the rails...
can ya explain where i can lift it. soz i aint the brightest spark, certainly aint mechanically minded.

Because the car is said to be "crashed" (and badly repaired) by the inspector. if ya turn up at the test center with a fully refurbished chassis now that its on the system as crashed.. they will say you repaired this! it must have been crashed.. Wheres ya approval / who done the repair / etc / etc / etc

best thing to do is to get measurement report. Show it hasn't been crashed
i.e. car is straight. (that's if report says it isn't crashed) then take it for a test again with the report, then whatever they don't like. get that repaired. that's the only way you can repair something.

so my idea of doing refurb was prob a bad idea.. coz they will come back your hiding something. best get them to say OK report is the proof no crash. but we still dont like X & Y you have to repair this (under are instructions).

Im only shooting in the dark if someones got a better idea.. i just know these guys are ruthless once they see something they dont like.

thanks all for ya comments. all helps

Haha, I ain't saying nothing.. Im sure Youtube will answer all ya needs on that matter

Can't even get a 240sx / Silvia registered never mind look after / tame a cheetah.

Latest development on the car, is taken it to Dubai for Reg Test.

Same sort of thing.
1.
Rails need sorting - the inspector said repair them and bring back. so this is great.

2.
Replace windscreen - need a new windscreen. got Autoglass Middle East looking into it. also might find one in Used parts shops in sharjah off a chopped JDM s13.

Anyone know where I can get new wind shields, dont mind whatever really plastic / glass / Replica. long as i can get it here fast and isnt gonna cost the moon.

3.
White smoke from exhaust - it wasn't white. it was just smoke... Ill pop some smoke additive in there to get past test..

Cars fine, doesn't have a cat and its been tuned.. plus if ya sit there revving it up and down of course ya gonna get smoke of it.. at idle its totally fine.

Anyone have any say about additives and SR20det's.. don't wanna add it and have it eat all the seals or whatever..
Idea was put it in on a full tank. take test then drain it all out put fresh 98 back in.

4.
Break down triangle..... not Found.. it can borrow my daily's.

5.
Battery clamp missing.. I'll Jimmy something over it.

but... all in all pretty please. its not a NO! its a get issues sorted and it will pass.

Cars gone for its new rails as well as abit of other work while its in the chassis shop,
Around front lights and radiator support bracket as there both abit out of shape. Make it as good as possible.

need to find some glass. anyone know somewhere selling them.
its a 240sx Coupe. (will a 180sx wind shield fit?)

and any comments on a smoke free additive would be really helpful. cheers all .

is this true coz i can easily get a s14 windshield in sharjah off a chopped s14 from Japan.

http://witenvy.com/dasilvia/biscuits/faq2.htm

what ya think????

arrives in 7 days..

I been reading thro other peoples posts on windscreens. everyone saying s14 is wider. so i aint gonna risk it.

as I'm on abit of a deadline to get it back to test center. best option is to get the right one first time..

So only thing left to get is some additive to cancel out the "white smoke"...
any advice on this matter would be helpful..

cheers

Cheers Jedi

so something like this is no good ?
http://www.powermaxed.com/car-additi...-oil-treatment

don't really wanna play about with fpr setting.. its been set up..
Cars had 2 sessions on the dyno. making sure its running well.
when I touch stuff like that it normally gets broken..

reason I want to add some liquid its quick. do the test. drain the crap out then put need stuff in Oil or Fuel where ever the additive goes..

has anyone used this crap stuff and either had a problem or has it been fine?
