so i was reading just to pass time and on Superstreet online they have a syko thread about an rb25 into a 240

It has just been brought to my attention and the first time I hear of this problem

They say they have seen a few rb26 go broke with the rb25 pan in place and that the 26 pan should be cut and modified to fit in an s13 chasis to prevent this problem.

I wanna know if anyone on here have been having this issue or have heard of this happen to someone before

I am currently doing the swap and just finished modifying the rb25 pan for it to fit on my 26

Does anyone know how much oil to put in an rb26 with a 25 oil pan? Im looking for a 26 pan to mod and use but until then i have a 25 pan.

The reason you have to switch pans is because of the front subframe. If you are into drifting, you may need to either have more oil so you always have some being picked up by the oil pickup. However, there is other ways to modify your oil system so you don't have to worry about high G applications.

Keep the Stock rb26 pan , remove front diff / cut it off !!! Weld shut the two holes on each side were the axles were and you have a rb26 rwd pan

More oil cap.
Stronger then the rb25 one because its cast alu
Tomei oil baffle plate
Oil restrictor in the oil Galarie
Clean the oil return passage (head and block)

You should be good to go !!! If high flow pump is instaled , rear head drain would be a good idea

I understand how to make the 26 pan work, I just installed an rb25 pan everything went smooth and it sealed properly but why would an engine go broke because of an oil pan.

Doesn't make any sense to me and the weight difference is a big thing too

If people on here have been running 25 pans for a while and have not had any issues or have had the issue and are now running 26 pan this is what I would wanna hear feedback from

And. For the oil amount use the dipstick lmao you can't go wrong

It's almost like an unanswered question, it's more like, you do what you want kinda thing, nobody has a specific answer and proof as to why this method is better

2 full summers with the 25 pan and no issues whatsoever I'm now running 440rwhp.
This question doesn't need to be answered for me anymore haha

Is it still running im in process for my rb26 also been hearing the same thing

Just for added protection i would say ... since its made of thin sheet metal a rb25 pan can be crushed upwards and block the oil pick-up ... sr's are famous for this too .

On my rb26 with 26 rwd conversio i was able to jack the engin by the oil pan ... with a rb25 pan forget about doing this ... just think of it like that , if you ever go off course that pan will maybe save your engin

Yes it is! No issues at all and a lot lighter then the modified 26 pan if your running it in a rwd car, I recommend it

i dont see any downsides to it, however either pan needs a baffle on any car making around 550whp and hooking it on the street...

I watched my oil pressure drop from 90psi down to 30psi on a 2nd gear hit on the street on roughly 550whp put a nice baffled sump on there and that issue went away... I am running a Tomei Pump FYI.
