Sr20det not getting oil to head
Hey guys I was just checking to see if I was getting oil to the head, well for starters my greddy oil gauge wasn't working for some reason. So I was worried about oil pressure , so I removed valve cover and spark plugs and cranked the engine and no oil was coming out of the tubes . And I checked my oil feed line to turbo cranked it and no oil came out. I guess my pump took a shit on me. By the way I just did Tomei cams hks springs retainers and j e proseal hesdgasket .

two things that I have seen cause no oil pressure:
oil relocation kit hooked up wrong (in/out hooked up backward) oil pan crushed; its hard to believe but I had zero oil pressure because the pan was crushed around pick-up tube, guess there isnt much clearance. *for the record I wasn't responsible for either fuck-up maybe try pulling the oil filter (w/ drain pan under of course) and see if any oil comes out there, probably wont if you said the turbo doesnt have oil pressure also inspect the pan to see if its been crushed at all |

I see that the Tomei oil block says in and out can does it matter where each braided line goes to on the oil filter relocation . Also I noticed that I had plenty of oil on the timing chain but that's obvious because the oil is in the pan and block

its not so much that the pan is crushed, its that the oil pickup breaks, and instead of sucking up oil, it just sucks air from the top of the tube where it cracks.

this is why I recommend you leave the engine alone. Stock cam/head does 320rwhp on 93. Without touching the spring/valves/head you drop a set of S3 or similar tiny cam and bump that to 380rwhp on 93. If you need more than that you go to a larger engine (i.e. 5.3L+)
sr20 are very sensitive to dirt, grime, salt, you name it. Open one up without performing surgery is asking for trouble. |
