List of Nissan RWD transmissions and part numbers

Put this together mainly for my own edification... maybe someone else will find it useful...

(Partial) List of Nissan RWD transmissions and part numbers

Manual transmissions
FS6R31A 6-speed: Z33 350Z and G35
RS5R30A 5-speed: Z32 300ZX turbo and NA, R33 Skyline (GTS?)
FS5R30A 5-speed: Z31 300ZX turbo 1987-1989, R32 Skyline (GTR version has rear extension for AWD)
FS5R90A 5-speed: Z31 300ZX turbo 1984-1986 (Borg-Warner T5)
FS5W71C 5-speed: Z31 300ZX NA, 240SX

Automatic transmissions
RE5R05A 5-speed: Z33 350Z and G35, Titan, Q45 2002-2006 (VK45)
RE4R03A 4-speed: Z32 300ZX turbo, Q45 1990-2001 (VH45)
RE4R01A 4-speed: Z32 300ZX NA, 240SX

All this stuff is in the factory service manuals. Other vehicles may use these transmissions but I haven't found them listed or been able to verify them in FSMs yet.

Gear ratios may vary between vehicles even though transmission model numbers may be the same.

See the appropriate factory service manual for more details.

(I hope it's ok to link to Nico... I couldn't find some of this stuff anywhere else.)

This site has some info about Z31 transmissions; how much power they can withstand, which ones are decent etc.

This site has some info about the Z33 350Z / G35 transmissions.

Good info, but I haven't seen a S14 SR20 swapped running a Z33 Trans, that would be sweet.

I have doubts that the s14 sr trans is the same as the s13 sr trans. I blew my s13 trans and replaced it with a trans that I know for sure was from a s14 sr. My rpm in 5th gear at say 70 mph is about 500 rpms higher in my s14 trans.

Nothing else changed, just the trans. Rear end stayed the same.

Old post, I know.
I can verify that the S13 and S14 transmissions have the same gear ratios, but the vehicles that the trannys came out of might have had different final drive ratios, so the speedo drive gears were different. Could be the difference between 3.7 and 3.9:1 ratios maybe? Maybe it wasn't the RPMs that were off, but rather the actual speed?

S14 SR trans has a .8xx 5th, where the S13 SR trans has a .7xx 5th...

S14 SRs have a shorter 5th gear than S13 SR trans. I think it's a 0.821, although a google search will confirm.
