Nissan Join V8 Supercars

“Nissan believes that, alongside Ford and Holden, we possess the most convincing motorsport DNA and track history in Australia, making a V8 Supercars Championship debut in 2013 an obvious initiative,” CEO and managing director of Nissan Australia Dan Thompson told V8supercars.com. “We are targeting No. 1 importer status in Australia and already making progress towards that as one of the country's fastest-growing brands. V8 Supercars will boost that momentum.”

I'm sure it will be a completely different motor build to V8SC specs.

Im betting it will be built similar to their GT3 FIA car. It uses a N/A VK pushing 500+ rwhp.

the GT1 cars use vk56de. superGT/LMP2 cars use vk45de. my guess is that nismo will build a new engine based on the FX's vk50de, since the existing ford and holden cars are using 5.0L engines.

"The GT1 GT-R was testing at the Paul Ricard circuit in France earlier this week, and with the help of NISMO and Gigawave Motorsports, the racer is well on its way. As expected, Nissan has dropped the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 in favor of a naturally aspirated VK56DE 5.6-liter V8 engine putting out 600 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. A Ricardo six-speed transmission and a 5.5-inch carbon triple plate clutch is fitted to channel power to the rear wheels. Six-piston calipers, carbon ceramic discs and 18x13-inch RAYS forged wheels are fitted at all four corners."
