jdm cluster USDM engine

i purchased my friends 240sx, it had a ca18 in it, it now has a ka24de dohc, but it has a jdm cluster, does anyone know of any way to get the tach working without buying a new cluster?

Both the ca18 and ka24de use the same tach signal so if the tach is not working its either a wiring issue or the tach itself is dead. The sohc ka24e tach is the one that uses a different signal and won't work but you can use a Dakota Digital converter to fix the issue. The converter costs about $80 bucks.

You got that backwards.

CA18 and KAE use the same tach sig.

SR and KADE use the same.

OP you need a KADE or SR Tach

Hate to bring up a old thread but I figured I would point out that this is incorrect in case anyone comes across this in a thread search. I was hoping that my memory was wrong and that Sileighty was right but I just finished up a ca18 swap into my car that had a SOHC tach and it did not work. After I swapped in a DOHC tach it worked fine.
