from mags and movies, nissan cars are getting more and more attentions. especially with the rise of the new altima and the sentra spec-R, that are excellent in performance. will nissan step into a rice field?

example, areospeed has already made coilovers for 240sx for 300 bucks, and more and more companies are making nissan aftermarket parts.

who agrees with me, that nissan is going to be huge in the "cheap" aftermarket in the years to come? and more and more people will start "ricing" (man creating new words now) nissans.

we must try to put an end to this madness, and smash all the nissan rice cars.

240meowth, im with you. i know there is an up and comming aftermarket for nissans, but i dont think that they will ever be as bad as civics (for example). there just arent as many 240s on the road as there are civics. but it is a scary possibility for the nissan future, true. anyway, im with you all the way in smashing nissan ricers. thats just not right

i don't mind if ricers buy nissans. #### look how many ricers drive hondas, and look at their aftermarket. (then look at our current aftermarket, ouch). companies sell parts where the money is, and whether it's more real car enthusiets who start buying nissans, or just people who think of cars as fashion statements on wheels who buy nissans i'm all for it. i'm sick of our lack of aftermarket.

i prefer the nissan aftermarket to be restricted and not too broad, but yet inexpensive (so it's a dream that'll never come true)....

i've seen some ricey 240s..... ew.
i've seen some nicely done up 240s. *drool*

so... in the end, it's a rock and a hard place

A lot of the "Honda Boys" who don't really know how to drive well will likely wreck their 240's from inexperience. The switch from FF to FR can be a bit tricky.

I personally would like to see a bigger aftermarket, but 240's will always cost a bit more. The guy at the performance shop I go to told me that they have about 1000 - 2000 Civic owners in their computer and about 3 240sx owners...including me

I doubt we will see a ricer take over. At least..I hope not.

I agree with whateverjames let the ricers buy tons of nissan parts all it can do is lower the price of parts for those of us who are true enthusiest. If there are a ton of companies competing for the same market we'll have a growth in availability and diversity of aftermarket parts and a reduction in price of allready available products.

I have noticed this too...Hopefully no ricer buys a evo7 because that is what I am buying next. =)

twofortysx, do you live in Sacramento?

Well, keep in mind there are many many fewer 240sxes than the typical rice cars. You don't really need to worry about it, specially 'cause they aren't made anymore.

I think it's kinda good too, because they will have more parts for us, and the more competition there is, the cheaper the price is. For example, I posted a post here couple days ago, about not being able to find side markers for under $60, and that wouldn't happen if there were more competition.

Azn GTR: like this??

they move through ebay between $30 - 50. I'd say the reason they aren't out there is because a lot of S14 owners aren't looking for fancy lights....

As it is, I'm pretty #### happy with the aftermarket for 240sx's. It's pretty no-nonsense, without too many crappy parts available, and high end parts not too hard to get (with a small wait from shipping from Japan though) for a decent price, since there IS competition between at least the top companies.
The poor sales of the 240sx has sort of worked to the advantage of the enthusiasts in America, since the car is very successful elsewhere giving us a large aftermarket backing where we need it. Hopefully the brand loyalty of 240 owners will convert over to newer Nissans, and keep the cheaper and useless parts away even through high sales. It'll all come down to what the owners do with their cars..... to create a demand for whatever market.
