How do you convert exhaust cam specs to intake?
I am trying to figure out my 248/232 cam setup and degreeing it.
I went with +2.5 degs advance and the car fell on it's face. Now i am hearing 'try' 2.5 to 5 deg retard instead. Does anyone have a write up or can tell me how to re-spec the exhaust cam to an intake so I can figure out the LSA, overlap, etc. Thanks Å

It's not that hard to do. Just line up the dot to the chain the way it would go in normally as if it were an intake cam. Then rotate it counter clockwise 4 teeth. Simple.

Not looking for how to install...I am looking for how to convert the cam events on an exhaust cam to intake events.
The 248 exhaust cam exhaust opens 64 deg before BDC & closes 4 deg after TDC, what do these equal when moved to the intake side. Thanks

has some info, but I can't verify it. I have a spare set of cam gears lying around, maybe I'll try this out. |

I spoke to some others that said the 248 would actually be 1.7 degrees advanced once moved over as an intake cam. This is why I want to get the specs on paper myself and go from there. Could be why only those not using any timing gears are actually getting the best performance.
