I have a r32 gts-t diff in my car..
Straight line burnouts lays two wheels no problem, but any donuts and only the driverside wheel spins, wtf. I dunno maybe its just worn out and the couplers and shit to to worn down to make the connection anymore?
Any ideas would be great, if nothing else kaaz here i come

anyway, seeing as how ur diff is from an R32, that means its old. as u stated about burnouts and donuts and shit, I'm gonna say the silicone fluid has been overheated one too many times.

either that or the couplers like you said.

BTW..IIRC you cant change the actual silicone fluid in a VLSD, only the gear oil. go kaaz.

hmm... so your saying the differential fluid is not shared with the viscous coupling? that the coupling is a sealed unit linked mechanically to the diff using whatever silicone fluid you're talking about?
I had no idea kaaz's and nismo lsd's were so fucking expensive

I'm not sure if they share the same fluid. If they DONT share the same fluid, why is VLSD fluid different from regular diff fluid?

the VLSD fluid is a silicone based oil which becomes heated by the opposite rotation of the output shaft plates, the friction heats the fluid and it hardens or expands and spins them the same way. Gear Oil obviously cant do this, thus the need for 2 fluids.

I dont know for sure about the R32, but i think it has the viscous fluid chamber which is sealed and non serviceable.

well shit that sucks.. that does make sense, but i still think its weird that both wheels will only spin in a straight line.
is there any easy way to find that out? Do you know if the 180sx/j30 vlsds are serviceable either?

when you put the vlsd in, what gear fluid did you use? 80/90? try putting some lsd additive in the diff.should only be like 10 bucks from auto zone.

Could also be the couplers, you wont know for sure until you take it out and disassemble it. If the couplers are ok, I'd just drain it and fill with 80W-90 (pennzoil) at this point you could try the additive and see if that helps. Good luck with it and keep updated
