Do you have a stock intake manifold or greddy style? I hit 20 psi at 4400 on 3rd gear

Try editing your post?!

You have to have some sort of starting point or guide.
Usually rpm, and gear for dyno, and street. maybe even speed and vacuum
gt2871r.64 56trim t04e 50ar compressor housing
3rd gear street 2500rpm 0 vacuum full boost 20psi 3400rpm
4th gear street 2500rpm 500mmhg full boost 20psi 3500rpm
4th gear dyno 2000rpm full boost 20psi 3200rpm
None of the street pulls were full throttle btw.
There are factors that can affect spool, pros and cons.
I also tune by the 300ftlbs for 3000rpm rule!

On the street in 3rd im getting 20 psi when I touch 4400rpm this is at full throttle, tial wastegate 8psi spring and I have my MEGASQUIRT ecu controlling boost I have set boost duty at max 100% and the best I can get was that. How are you getting full boost by 3500 that is a extremely big difference

Also do you have an upgrade plenum or stock

Stock s13sr intake, stock exhaust manifold with Tial v44 gate 1bar spring, blitz dual sbc, I don't remember the gain or duty, I set it over 2 years ago.

I have a question for you. Does your setup sweep past 0 when coming from vacuum into boost or does it take a slight pause?

And does your turbo spin during idle, and shut down?

Sorry about the delay, it doesn't sweep past 0 I also boost leak test and fixed all leaks, the turbo is spinning on idle I put a harder spring in the wastegate and set my boost controller to the max and all I could get was full boost at 4000-4100

Turbo is brand new

There's probably things you can do, like make sure your bov is not leaking.
Also I make full boost within 1000rpm so if your in 3rd at 3000rpm and you reach 20psi at 4000rpm I'd say that's normal. You could also try tuning for max best torque, vs horse power. if using a brake dyno you will most definitely see an increase in spool on the street.

Pipingpro.com use to have an intake kit available for the GT2871R. Not sure if they're still around, I remember they use to be on Zilvia offering up custom intakes like 7-8 yrs ago.

Starting to realize that.

I know, I know, but has anyone used this thing?

I get that it's on the intake side, but I was melting specter couplers when they were right before the intercooler. I can't imagine this one holding up connected to the turbo near the manifold.

What is the maximum boost you are able to reach and hold with the internal wastegate?

Probably as much as you want if you crank down the preload tight enough or add additional springs. I know of an evo in Phoenix running an internal gate on like 45psi because he has a bunch of extra springs holding the flap closed in addition to the actuator.

I have a HKS GT2530 with a .86 turbine housing that had bearing failure. I plan to convert to a GT2871. There is a shop that claims they may even be able to machine it out to convert it to a 3071 or perhaps even a 3076.

I am doing my research on here as this is a very popular turbo in the SR20 community and not in the 4G63 community. This is for my 92 Galant VR-4 or I may put it in my Miata but would go with a 2871 for sure if it does go into the Miata.

Tuned my Sr20 today at Autotalent, in Carson CA.

Sr20det
-bone stock bottom end
-stock Headgasket
-stock headbolts
-stock valve springs
-Stock intake manifold, and exhaust manifold

-3in exhaust, with catback
-tomei 256 poncams
-gt2871r .64
-tomei 740cc injectors
-tomei FPR @3.5 bar
-Apexi PFC
-Aem E85 fuel pump
-E85 fuel

368whp @17psi

Intake manifold is choking out at around 6,200rpm. A nice Freddy would help out and make it breath better though.

Compliments of Koji Arai for tuning this Sr with stock HG, and bolts.

That's with e85? it's right on point with the average pump gas though. 17psi ruff tuned makes 350hp. What is the torque?
34~ or 36~?

Tq is 339, only 1 shy of 340, lol.

Injectors are at 96% duty....( I know)
If I had bigger injectors, and a Freddy intake manifold I'm sure it should be another 15-20whp more, at the same boost level. Also, with it breathing more air after 6,300rpm.

Peak power (368whp) is at 6,200. After that it starts to slowly take a dive, this is where the Freddy intake comes to play.

Why not run the FPR at 4 bar to let up on a bit of duty cycle?

Main reason I don't turn up to 4 bar, is because I only have one in tank fuel pump(Aem 340plh).

Running it at 4 bar with one fuel pump is going to shorten the life of the pump drastically.
People that run 4 bar usually have 2 fuel pumps.

Btw, I got a bit of info on the water/meth injection tuning with PFC.
Koji has tuned a lot of water/meth With 91 pump.

He says it really simple, the only time meth is injected is when it's in boost.
He doesn't like it as much though.
The reason why, is because some times the meth injection nozzle gets clogged, and then the proper amount of meth is not being injected this causing the motor go boom.

Also he stated that when tuning it, when there is a wot pull the first 2 seconds there is a big Jump in knock, then as the meth kicks in, it lowers the knock back down to safe level.

Besides that, he is ok with it. Just recommends to replace nozzle tip once a year.

Koji is super experienced with PowerFC tuning. He was my tuner of choice until I decided to change to an AEM Ems.

He can also tune AEM EMS, and is really familiar with that standalone as well.
