"VQ35DE into my s14" Build; [Update 2013]

So i am about mid way through this build. And have so far gotten a lot done!

pulled the motor out a couple weeks ago.

and brought the new VQ home

Been getting lots of parts in the mail

converted it to a 5 lug the other day

hoping to get more parts in tomorrow. and HOPEFULLY by the end of the week, i will have my wiring harness back from Z-Fever so i can start dropping this motor in.

to see more of the pictures, go to the following link. i will most likely update it more often.

No plans to turbo it. maybe 5 to 7 years down the road i will reconsider, but for now, i think the base hp in this light chassis will be plenty to keep me entertained

Yes it is! out of a 2006. it is such a weird feeling pulling a motor from a car that still has that "new car smell". lol

I didn't like dealing with zfever personally... I would encourage you to try and wire it yourself, it really isnt bad. I had zfever do the ecm flash, but any Uprev tuner can do that for 300$. I did the wiring myself.

Looks like you're coming along well though !!

So i am wondering.... Should i paint my engine bay before i drop in the motor? and if i do, what color? i plan on painting the body Daytona Blue... but i'd kinda like the engine bay to be something different, or crazy.

that is actually what a lot of ppl have been saying. and i think i would like the purple. but i was thinking. if i do it myself, i would just rattle -can it. who knows how long that would last. i may as well just get the engine bay painted when i get the entire car painted this summer. just pay a lil extra for them to do it all.

yeah i believe they are... especially since they are still relatively new. the 350z still had that "new car smell" to the interior as we pulled everything. but i got lucky and new the guy that owned it. someone wrecked into him and destroyed the rear end. so it was parted.

I got my rims in today. my fenders in the rear are DEFINITELY gonna need rolled, and most likely pulled. yes, in the picture, there IS major toe in as well. have all new suspension parts though, so getting an alignment will be major priority before i go messing up these new tires.

also got the exhaust hung

and some new leathers for my shifter-boot and e-brake

Looks like a non rev up. Personally I wouldn't go with the Rev-Up. They are notorious with oil consumption.

Damn that's a good deal, most places around here want that just for a bare long block.
