3071 T3 external gate with vband rear housing arrived for the car along with a 6boost manifold to match with the black high temp coating on it. The end goal was to run this with E85 and decent boost with the stock internals + large cams. The end power goal was around the 280-300rwkw mark.

The quality of the collectors in these is pretty awesome, comes to a needle point basically.

More soon.

This is 6boosts design the theory behind it is the velocity of the gas heading through a smaller area is increased and spools the turbo quicker. Given the results we had I tend to agree it works.

Our 3071 ended up having better response and less lag and made substantially more power than the 2871 we pulled off which is obviously a smaller turbo.

Jacked up to pull the old turbo setup off and make some changes for the new setup.

The bay is looking less cluttered as we go. Fan shroud and clutch fan was binned.

Some shots of things coming together in the weeks leading up to WTAC last year.
Unfortunately everything was so rushed we didn't get as many pictures as we'd have liked.

Fancy external gate stainless vband 3" dump pipe which was made up by Andrew, worked a treat!

The new splitter pre paint and stickers.

The new Voltex wing mounted up, suited the car very well and works well to boot.

The straight through 3" exhaust system that Andrew made up. ****ing loud and just about as light as we could make it without exotic (and expensive) materials.

That must be one of the nicest custom exhausts I've seen on here. Almost looks like a buddy club spec 2. I wanna hear a sound clip

It was the lightest most simplistic and straight design we could fit. It'll put up a youtube clip of it shortly it sounded pretty average at low rpm though!

The refreshed bilstein coilovers arrived back from Jono looking very serious. These now have adjustment on them unfortunately not independently but that was simply out of our budget for now.

The 3071 with fitting attached ready for its new home.

This is a shot of the wiring loom that runs through the engine bay on the turbo side. This is what brought James prior trackday to a screeching halt. A turbo gasket leak cooked it at an eastern creek trackday. The first James new of it was the windscreen wipers came on by themselves mid lap! Thankfully stuff had only melted not caught alight.

If this is a street car then why did you make a straight pipe exhaust for it?

For WTAC, it got a normal hotdog muffler later on before it got road driven regularly.

This was a shot at the end of our first proper shakedown after the event. (a bmw track day from memory) had issues with the vacum fitting on the tial gate falling off and running unlimited boost. Fortunatly the stock bottom end survived unscathed.

Dumheds super rad hydraulic trailer dumped on its arse.

As you can see even after the "trailer mods" it only just squeezes on! =)

Some pictures from the Saturday of WTAC2011. This was a seriously fun event to be a part of and the car and nfi both performed well. We were very happy with our best time of 1:39.6 on a set of Hankook TDZ221 with 260rwkw on pump. We were hoping for some more power and E85 but time and funding ran out. Car made it though the event unscathed and we had an overall whirl wind of a week and weekend. One of the highlights of the event was the Thursday evening. Meeting Susuki san and having a broken English and even more broken Japanese conversation about S15's and sharing a beer. He was very humble and just seemed happy to be there competing (even though he'd smashed his box for the first time that day).

This is the fastest lap we got on video complete with data overlay 1.40.2 . Unfortunately the camera battery went flat on the warm up lap before nfi pulled out the 1:39.6 so we missed it!

The straight pipe is pretty loud, defiantly not an option for the street!

Some other cool shots form the event before we move on to other stuff. =)

Enjoying a chat with Eric Hsu from the Sierra Sierra team early in the morning before the first day of competition. Nice guy we all enjoying reading MotoIQ who he has written lots of articles for. Including the build updates on the "Team America" R32GTR which they're building for the event this year and hopefully next year too.

Meanwhile the Cyber guys were piecing their car together.

/me humps the air

Very trick.

Cool shot of "Unders" gear waiting to go in the morning.

One of the revolution RX7 guys checking out the Sierra cars engine bay.

One of the more serious S chassis cars going around! Hopefully we'll be pushing each other to new heights this year too! =)

We met Troy the owner of this extensively modded beast. Awesome car be sure to check it out again this year if your going. Its one hell of a car.

MCA car in the same boat at the new Nemo car with function over form. Interested to see what changes have been made this year!

Pan speed car is one serious ride very little original Mazda left by the looks of it. =)

They didn't have a shortage of new rubber either!

Very simplistic, very quick!

Awesome DIY at its best?

Suzuki suiting up.

Many hands make light work.

Awesome shot of mad mike and some flame spittage.

The usual suspects.

So after this the car sat in a garage for many months. Know one really wanted to work on it for awhile as it had consumed so much time in the lead up to WTAC that we were all abit over it. My build was starting to consume alot of time and it finally got some much needed attention from everyone.

After afew months the exhaust was fixed up into a streetable version with a new rear muffler and the car was weekend driven for several months. We had some big plans for the car power wise but needed time to let funding recover and organise things. The next event we attended was the annual NSCC Wakefield day at Goulburn.

James managed a 104.07 on the day which we were happy with but not ecstatic about on one of the sets of used tyres from superlap. Andrew drove the car for some testing laps and managed a mid 106 in it.

SX Developments/Hankook Time Attack S15 Wakefield 2012 104.07 - YouTube

There was still more time in it though it was just a matter of getting back out there but we wouldn't have time for this as several months of solid work lay ahead to get the car prepared for this years WTAC.

More soon!

Sooooo with very little time of several months and the fact we all have full time jobs an epic project was embarked on. To completely strip the car from the back of the doors forwards, rewire the full car, new engine, new cooling setup and hopefully revised aero along with a mass of "other" chassis work. Wives & girlfriends were kissed goodbye to be seen only after the event(if you ask them anyways).

Motor out.

Washed the car will be the last time fir a long time.

Found about a half a kilo of rubber and gravel in the front guards.

Getting the motor out itself is only half the job. Lots of time was spent completely stripping the entire engine bay. Big thanks to Jimmy and Luke for making short work out of it. As you can see the engine bay was in need of some attention as it looked like shit in comparison to the rest of the car. Everything was so filthy you didnt want to touch anything let alone work in there for hours.

A place of filth and wiring.

and more filth

Jimmy was offered a wiggles band-aid for a small scratch to many lols.

No longer required due to aero catches this bonnet latch attachment to the radiator supports days were numbered. Lots more direct air to the coolers without it in the way.

Air tools are noisy, under arm fungi? Maybe.
