TrustS13 hatch build - Kouki 180sx edition
What's up Zilvia. Danny here.
I had a complete build of my old S13 coupe on Zilvia. You can read that here if you'd like: http://zilvia.net/f/chat/365793-trus...ld-thread.html This thread kinda starts at the end, but I am going to try and show what I did document on this one. I didn't document nearly as well as my coupe, mainly because I didn't have a camera to do so with (minus my iPhone). I documented the last one with my brothers D40. I now have a decent camera myself so expect better pics! So let's begin the story of my new hatch. I picked it up off a fellow out in Concord for a good deal. Came as a bare shell. No engine, trans, seats, but it had an uncracked dash and was a DOHC power model. It did turn out to have rust, but I got that cleared up. Steam cleaned the bay New parts - ISIS suspension package (Thanks BG @ EnjukuRacing.com) SS 1 piece clutch line 88 Rotors 5 lug rotors + new pads 5 lug conversion hubs New heart - S14 SR20DET + Wiring Specialties Plug-n-Play harness Let's get to work! You can see the rust spot on the driver side quarter. Turns out the whole entire quarter panel had been replaced and it had bondo rusted through. Luckily paint and body cleaned this up.. Prepped and painted the engine bay In goes the SR Skip a bunch of other stuff. Had a bunch of little issues come up here and there (with my clutch). Got that sorted out, got the car painted, got rid of the p45r's, got a BN type 2 body kit, got a decent camera (Rebel T3i) and here we go: after I installed the D2's Drift car rake Painted New wheels: and blam Got my new camera: (low quality facebook uploads for now) So here's where I am now.. I need a diff, and all new aero. I sold the BN type 2 kit and am going full 180sx kouki aero. I am about to source a bumper and side skirts.. Anyone want to help? I have my OEM rear, and just bought 3 piece valences. Also need to source a Kouki wing. Thanks for checking my car out. Parts List I can think of so far - 1991 Nissan 240SX Shell - ISIS Suspension Package - ISIS Pulley package - CX Racing FMIC - 3" turbo back exhaust - 1 piece "Cobra" downpipe - Aluminum radiator - Spec Stage 3 6 puck clutch - 5 lug conversion - JDM Kouki tail lights - BN Type 2 body kit lots of other cool stuff |

Ok...I'm in.
Sucks doing it twice, but a "kouki'd 180sx" should be fun! lets see some proper Aero for this model...though BN is nice too. You seem to know where to get the bumper (chesapeake) But Lip will be tough to find unless Crimson's lip will work for you.

Nice!
I really would probably be fine with a Crimson lip, but we will see. Any tips on sides, hood, or turn signals. Did you get rid of your old hood for the KP hood? Also, I notice we are both in NC, but don't think we have met. I'm in Greensboro. I think I may have seen your car at the Wrong Fitment Crew meet years ago, but I could be wrong. |

My friend drove my car out to that Meet that day back when I was on Brota 17/18 P45's also and (funny you mention that)My car made a Sneek peek in a Mag too that i saw too.Wasn't Crazy "wrong Fitment" by any means but It was in Clean up mode at that Time. Like the way your build is going and will def be tuning in. I'd go for the "Koguchi Cut" Hood myself with stock SE spoiler: everything else Full Kouki. Classy!!! can't go wrong with The Kouki spoiler of course. Do your Thing man.....should turn out nicely either way.

I've got a near perfect oem lip for you but you'll have to wait till I get back from Japan next year! Great build btw!
Fairlady I'll need to make the drive down and see your car as well if I'm in the area!

I need to update this more often! Purchased 3 piece rear valences, sold the BN kit, Bought 2 RED BRIDE Vios III LowMax's with silver glitter backs, working on sourcing skirts and front bumper (lip is gonna be my death). In the mean time, buying a HKS adjustable wastegate for the stock t28, and about to get my valve cover/engine bits powder coated. Any ideas??
Here is a pic I took with my new camera of the hatch. Also dyed my carpet black with RIT dye, came out GREAT, but... my hands are black now, haha. |

Your Boost 2's are Freaking Sweet!!!!! I just wished they made them in 17's. I would get a set too. And by the way, the white looks really nice up against your black car. Nice build!

I am liking them a lot! They are a big snug on me. I wouldn't get them if you are over 32 waist. I am 5'9 180lbs with a 32 waist but I have pretty broad shoulders (I weight train) and they almost stick out past the shoulder pads. Might have to get a picture for reference.
Please PM me a price on those skirts! Richmond isn't too far from me, well.. 4 hours I think. |
