What's your cooling setup? I'm in the process of doing a Vvti 1j and hearing people say there impossible to keep cool.

what i have are two pull fans at 2800cfm, water wetter, distilled water, new water pump, isis radiator for a sr, oem thermostat, and silicone hoses. my temps driving around and beating on the car were around 190~200F. on the dyno and doing continuous passes the car was at 220~230F (but there wasn't a lot of water in the system because I didn't flush it correctly). I also have a mid mount intercooler which i pan on putting two more 10" fans. along with a oil cooler and ps cooler up front.

yeah just do my set-up and you should be fine. but i would get a colder thermostat so it can open up earlier and keep the temps down. which ill probably do along with a swirl pot so i'll never over heat. JZ's run hot so its best to take the measures and spend the cash so it last.

never! my car would look 100x better but id probably would have it explode on me just driving around in tampa and I don't have the time to play with that lol. also my car is low enough where i can't fit vans under the side skirt so the front bumper would be destroyed the first day i have it on.

that won't do any difference at all because your thermostat is already open.. . save money, get bigger radiator.

Awesome man. I'm starting the process of swapping a 1j here soon. This is definitely helpful. One thing I didn't see here, was a front sump. I've seen a lot of other builds with it and was curious about it. As where they got it from. I'm hearing a lot of people get them from the aristo's. Any input?

The 5.9 cummins motor is the holset hx35 right? For sure looking into it. Around what rpm range does it start building boost and hit full boost?

Haha okay rad. Sorry for all the questions, just looking to get a sold baseline before I go full steam. I saw you got the motor from jdm of Miami? Reasonably priced?

i got it from jdm miami and i told them lets make a deal. I told them that I dont need the twins, auto trans, ecu, came without TB or flywheel, and they can kept the rear sump which all saved me money and i got the whole set-up with a r154 for $2000. Which was cheaper than my sr20!!! If i stuck with everything stock this swap would have been a lot cheaper than my sr20 swap and made a lot more reliable power for cheaper. but i decided to go for reasonable 400hp and i achieved it but ended costing more since i went with quality parts so i dont need to upgrade in the future. only thing i can upgrade on now is just my fuel system.

and for the hx35 for look cummins trucks around 95-99 12v's

interesting thread op. 2 things.

-why didn't you just buy a t3 manifold in the first place??

-did you change out the oil pump??

and are you interested in buying some usdm tt injectors on the cheap??

Well I lost count after i bought my AEM lmao which was 7000$. But I went the full nine yards on the motor so I wouldn't need to do anything for a while. For a bone stock swap you could do it for 3500-4000

I didn't get a t3 manifold because I just went with the cheapest manifold i could find on ebay and a buddy already had a bunch of t3 flanges at his shop.

And no i didn't change the oil pump out. That's the only thing I did not change on the motor. But the Oil pressure is on point so there's no need.

And I wish you offered those 550's to me a year ago haha!!! Motor is already tuned for 440's.
