National Champ A-Mod car
Got to watch the A-Mod national champion run this weekend at Gulf Coast Region's OctoberFast event in Pensacola. Incredible. My co-driver and I had the fastest fendered car time with a 58.3 run. This guy (George Bowland) was running 45.5. Incredible to watch. The car was throwing a 20ft high rooster tail of dust from the undertray diffuser.
George Bowland This is just a pic I found of the car.

Man, I wish I could've come down. I'm down in Brewton, Al but I don't have the right car...the old Z just isn't up to the abuse.

The AMod cars are NASTY. They're pretty much built SOLELY to rock an autox course....
Bill Gendron (former BMod nat. champ) runs an AMod car up in the New England Region and that thing is ALWAYS raw FTD whenever it's out. Watching those things go through the course is like watching any other car in fast forward. I could only imagine what the AMod national champion looks like (8 seconds faster overall than the Dragon F1 I'm used to seeing... at the '03 Nats, looking at the results).

I really like this forum. Not nearly as many rice boys here like there are at some of the other 240 forums.

If you don't mind driving a little ways, the Tri-State Challenge is going on in my area. Two weeks ago, we were in Little Rock. This weekend we'll be in Memphis. Two weeks later, we'll be in Grenada. You won't qualify for the championship since the first leg has come and gone, but the single events themselves are pretty fun. All three are two day events and we usually get 6 runs a day. Grady Wood with his SM Civic usually shows up...I'd love to see y'all battle it out.
If you or anybody else is interested, for more info check out http://www.midsouthscca.org/Tristate.asp for this weekend and http://www.msscca.org/events.html for the one in two weeks. |

Wow
Quick driving. I need to get faster. Still, it's a good video to learn, hearing when you put throttle, shift, etc. Hopefully, next year, I'll do some videos of my own.

Thanks guys. It was quite fast for an autocross course. We really enjoyed running with those guys. Would be nice if a bunch of us could meet up at an event some time. My local region just found out that there won't be a hunting season on the navy base this year so we'll be able to run year round. We're having an event at a small site in town on November 8th, and then we'll have a three event winter series starting in December. In the meantime I've got a buch of changes to do to the car. Don't know how I'm gonna be able to make all these winter events and work on the car. Oh well, gotta do it.
What are you guys planning to do during the winter?

Not a lot of winter autocrossing going on up here in New England. Too cold, and snow ruins things. I WISH I could autocross year round, but I guess this time off is better for me.
Over winter: re-configured fuel system for better part throttle response, Ground Control coilovers, and karting to help keep the edges sharp so next year I can try and hit some Pro Solo events on the National Tour, and compete in the Pro Class up here in NER with some of the best drivers in the nation (Keith Casey, Mark Daddio, Nathan Whipple, just to name a few). Guess I should head down south for winter break to do some autocrossing if any is going on..... I'd love to do some autocrossing with some of the forum members here

Hmmm Winter. Up North. My car will be stored. I'll probably save some money for some race tires and spacers for my "race" rims. I'll also get a decent paint job done on the car. Maybe new brake pads. Definitely switching to blank rotors (i have those shitty drilled rotors).
I'll also be working on the cooling efficiency of my car. I'll try to get some underplating done to keep the air flowing in the radiator. And if money permits, I'll try to get an aquamist water injection kit to help on my egt's. I consider them a tad bit too high to my liking. Apart from all that, I'll also be working on my GF's mk3 Supra and preparing mentally for next season's Auto-X!
