lmao this car is a roller. It was a project my dad was working on. Rust on the metal will come right off with scotch bright and wd40 if you are not going to paint it. If you were to have a donor car or find a donor for interior and body parts this car would not be your typical 510

If you are paying for the labor then yes you're looking at high dollars. If you have a donor car, or buy a donor car, you can steal all the body parts and interior from there. You can even find 510's with sr swaps done for pretty cheap. You can do it for about 5k-10k yes. But that is beside the point and to some people that is a little bit of money.

Thank you. It has a ton of potential and could be a beauty to the right owner. Unfortunately my dad can not finish it because of his accident and I don't have the money currently. Weekend bump.

I'm interested, but am wrapping my head around the reality of getting this thing on the road.

How much more fabrication (welding) is going to be involved? That is not in my skillset, so I'd have to pay a local fabricator who builds race-cars (who is available but must be paid) to finish the fabrication and put in a floor and mounts, and apparently mounts for front fascia and radiator mounts. I'd complete the body assembly, wiring, engine, tranny, fuel cell and plumbing.

You say it is set up for a 2JZ-GTE/R154, but to what level? As in, ready for stock motor mounts and transmission mount? Or is that merely the engine that was intended, but all mounts are to be fabricated? If I were to take this on, I'd install a JDM 2JZ-GE VVTi and W58 transmission with JDM wiring by purchasing a front clip from an IS300 or similar for less than 1/4 of the price of completing the USDM 2JZ-GTE/R154, with plenty of power for autocross and street use.

How much was this car planned to weigh when finished, and how close is the weight bias expected to be to 25% per corner if finished out stock? If ~3400lbs finished, what would be the point over a Supra MkIV/Lexus SC300? If planned to finish out at 2500lbs even with the turbo, street legal window glass, and an even weight bias, now that is worth pawning my left testicle!

But I suppose I should have asked this first... what was the intended purpose of this car? (high speed track, 1/4 mile, street-rod?) Seems a bit much for autocross, but if it is suitable (I know, it would be bumped to some open class that I'd never win), I'm very interested.

Suppose I pick up a donor 510 with everything for $1K (for calculating total cost).

I may have chosen my moniker 2Poor2Buy as a bit of a pun, but it does clarify that I am on a limited budget. It seems like buying the roller is just a small part of the total investment. How much do you want for it now that it has been on the market a while (and I'd be towing it hundreds of miles), have you decided to throw any other donor parts in, and what is a realistic parts cost to finish this off as a street-rod (primered) that can seriously handle autocross style driving? (SCCA SOLO II would only be for entertainment, not competition)

If any of my questions involve rookie mistakes, please feel free to tell me without flames! I wouldn't want to build it half-way and go broke.

I was drinking water, read your initial response, and choked out "RUNNING???" with water going down the wrong pipe! Here I was about to go to bed, but that woke me up!

Now that I see your post that it was 'put together' as in, dry-fit. I do see what appears to be a large fuel cell in place, suggesting a high-speed track car.

I'm in the mountains near Sacramento. If you can send me a phone number by PM, I'll call you tomorrow.

There's still the realistic question as to what it will cost me to complete, for use as an autocross type street-car, provided it is compatible with that purpose. (If built for high speed, it may not be intended to be nimble at low speed)

Now I truly must go to bed.

Experienced Motor Heads:
Please chime in on whether this project appears suitable for a street/autocross car, and whether it's current stage is such that a project builder with no welding experience (who would have to pay a welder, though a local club member may be able to help some) has a prayer of finishing this project completely.

You can respond by PM if you want.

You have a private message and I too would like to know what people have to say. If you read in previous comments you will see that this does need a lot of work. Depending on how extravagant you want to go with this build and what parts you already have and your knowledge and DIY skills, it can cost you anywhere form 4k to 30k. Also it doesn't hurt to have a friend that knows how to fabricate
