lexan sunroof

Has anyone done this before?

Mines cracked on my 1990 coupe

was hoping i could duct tape the cracks, remove the glass and use it to make a plexiglass or lexan replacement (hoping to save money by doing this)
and then putting some tint film on it to help keep it from scratching

problems ive read are that the sunroof has a slight curve to it(that would need to be replicated on the replacement piece), and the plastic roof will cause a subwoofer like effect at speed

anyone with info on this?

Personally I thought you can bend plexi/lexan? As long as you can securely mount it I dont think you'd have a problem as far as the subwoofer effect I think the thickness of the sheet would play a big part in that especially if the lexan wasn't sealed all the way

A friend of mine took out the sunroof on his PS13 and riveted a piece of lexan to the roof, covering the opening for the sunroof. RTV silicone to seal it.

There is a thread dedicated to this topic somewhere on this forum.

Well the OEM coupe sunroof has studs that are permanently attached to the underside of the glass. With lexan, you would have to drill holes through the lexan and use a bolt/nut. Just one thing to take into consideration. Good luck!
