Ok guys, I have $800 extra bucks to spend on my car, so far I have the intake and exhaust. I have four choices:
1. Header system - I want to get the Greddy header, hi-flow cat, and 2.5" custom pipe to replace the resonator. I don't wanna wait for the new hotshot header, I wanna keep my cat! 2. ECU - should I do this now or wait until I get all my performance upgrades? 3. Powdercoat wheels and new tires - I just wanna do this to make my car look better. 4. Audio - I want to get subs and an amp, and maybe new speakers all around, this should be enough to cover it. I'm not going all out on my audio, just want a moderate, decent sounding system Give me suggestions, I don't need any of these, but $800 is too much to waste on anything else, but perfect to upgrade my car. --suspension-- I'll do this when I get the money from that tax return thing, guaranteed $300! I think I should get it in October. Thanks. (Edited by anthony240 at 10:14 am on Sep. 3, 2001) |

I don't know how you are guaranteed $300. I got $28.80 <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>
Anyway... I'll help ya out. $800 doesn't go very far. A header is only worth 2-5hp. And GReddy have had some cracking problems. An ECU would be most helpful if you waited for all your mods and got a custom chip, rather than a basic chip for $500. Unless you need tires, I would not do the powdercoating and tires. Well, that leaves audio. $100 for a cheap sub. And another one, then a $150 amp from ebay. $450 so far. Then some polk audio all around... $200. And about $150 for installation is about right. I did the 300zx brake conversion with my $800. So. Even though it seems I didn't help... I would either get the header, audio, or brakes. -Jeff |

Hmm..... I will act as we all dont know what I am going to say.
SUSPENSION! Make sure and do it right and get shox along with your springs and fix your camber. Buy some 17" wheels and tires now and then lower it in a month or so. You will be very happy. Your car will feel faster too since its lower to the ground and stiffer. If you wanted to go with your options then I would get the ECU. Its a VERY good mod. Itl help the most out of any bolt on available. I never got to install my headers but I heard they arent the best mod for the money. With the extra 400$ get a Short Shifter or some other good mods you might need. 400 is alot. Audio? Dont waste your money... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> But thats just me... |

Thanks peeps. I got a letter from the IRS saying I will get $300. You know that deal with Dubya(Bush) giving a tax cut and all single people get $300 and all married couples get $600, but that's if you filed last year's tax.
Yup, I'm working on audio right now. But I'm still unsure, I'm still on the planning stages. I've never heard bad things about the Greddy header, I read it was very good quality. It's just cause it's a shorty header, but at least it doesn't eliminate my cat, you know the cat is right after the exhaust manifold right? So I said header system cause I'll get the header, a high flow cat, and a "downpipe" to connect the cat to the exhaust system. The stock pipe is small plus it has that fake cat that acts as a resonator. I figure doing this would free up at least 8hp, hopefully. West, didn't you read? I only have $800! I don't have enough for 17" rims. I'm sticking with my stock rims, new rims cost too much and I ain't big ballin like you. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> I'll upgrade suspension when I get that tax return money. I'm getting GAB shocks and Eibach sportlines. And, I have an AUTO, I don't think there's a short shift kit for automatic cars, is there? I'd also like to get a reprogrammed ECU from JWT, do I have to have all my mods done first so the ECU will work properly with the mods? My tires are still good, but one is almost bald, probably has 5000 miles left. I won't be doing ECU or Header for now, so it's either tires/rims or audio. Thanks. |

What city are you in? If you are in LA area I know some spots that will give you RH Evolutions with z rated tired for around 1100.
Anyways, look at Apex'i N1 suspension. I think you can get dampers for like 1k. Go for suspension. |

Would a 10 pound sub and 5 pound amp really make THAT much of a difference? </td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'> I don't know about you. But I have 25 pounds of dynamat in my car, THREE 10 pound subs, a 5 pound amp, and the TWENTY POUND box. -Jeff |

If you are not going to go turbo, I saw stick with what you have (headers, computer, etc. will not make that much of a difference) and get some good sounds. Nothing like some good ol bass, right Jeff240SX. Sounds like you have some SOUNDS.

Well, that's different, and unless you're going comp, personally I think it's overkill. A friend of mine has a paseo with a 10 pound sub, a 5 pound amp and some aftermarket mid speaks and his system thumps pretty well.
