my Toyota 350z build :)
HUGE UPDATE ON COMMENT #161, I AM NO LONG AFFILIATED WITH SHIFTED PERFORMANCE AND URGE YOU TO WATCH YOURSELF IF YOU HAVE, OR ARE DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM...
HERE IS THE LINK TO MY EXPERIANCE WITH SHIFTED PERFORMANCE THREAD!!!! http://zilvia.net/f/businesses/44658...ml#post4626492 Hey guys! so here it is, i finally started my 2JZ swap in my 06 350z! Im taking my current APS single turbo (GTM upgrade kit) VQ out and going a little bit of a different route then i have been seeing everyone else do....for many different reasons...but mainly because you just dont see it and i want to be unique... I was origionally going to do this swap myself but after further research in the Tech 2 kits, i wasn’t very impressed...sooooo i was contacted by a company in New Jersey that specializes in this type of swap and they deff caught my eye! after i went down and checked out the shop, met with the owner and went over my plans for my build, Tony at Shifted Performance gave me a deal that i couldn’t beat. (for those interested in the shop or maybe getting more info, you can shoot me a PM or just add them on Facebook) so a year later once i was ready for the build, i took my Z down to Tony and handed him the money needed to start the build and thats where we are today, 1 week in and i already have a motor, trans, bellhousing, turbo, wastgate, BOV, all new gaskets, pullys, belts, head studs, clips for the wiring harness, fittings, paint, sent parts off to be chromed, and have started pulling all my current setup out (im sure im missing some stuff as well but ill catch it further on in this thread as the build goes on) Link to my first build thread: my little build - MY350Z.COM Forums First, some pics of the car as of now: BUT, i guess this thread is no good without pics...sooo here are what i have so far: Im going to try and at least update this once a day with ANY progress...with the way Tony works, there is something new everyday!

very very cool build man! i have always liked the 350z but i never opted to buy one due to the v6 engine. i changed head gaskets on one and it was not fun at all! i saw a dude do a sr20det swap in one but never a jz motor SO cool....if nevada didnt have the horrific jdm swap laws i would totally do something like this. maybe some day ill do an rb g35 sedan a car to take the family around..in a hurry hehe

those head studs are a pain in the butt if you dont have a 14mm thin wall socket to fit in between the buckets. i'm stuck at that point right now myself. need to barrow a socket form a freind.

take a small screw driver put the washer on it. Place the driver into the hole on top of the stud and drop the washer down onto it.. Screw driver helps to guide it onto the stud.. do the same for the nut. and then squeeze ur fingers down there to start the nut lol..(no homo) |

a little update:
-chrome should be done by the end of the week... -bell housing was shipped from texas on monday...im hoping for it to arrive this week...but most likely not till monday of next -head gasket was sent but they sent the wrong one, sooo the new one is in route.. -my entire turbo kit is at the shop and ready to be bolted on, just at a stand still with the rest of the parts

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be mean, but why would you downgrade to be unique? The money you're putting into this swap would have made a NASTY VQ35 that would outperform the 2J in every way. Just seems odd to me.
Car looks nice so far tough!
