it's more like what didn't happen lol. some of it was poor planning on my part though. i got a little too anxious and didn't upgrade my brakes yet since i wanna powder coat em first, but i wanted to get my rims on-i guess that's what happens for being impatient :P

-as we were taking off the front wheels, i realized i didn't have ROTORS TO FIT THE NEW HUBS!

-i had to go to 2 different places, montclair and fontana, to get said rotors since no one had a complete set in stock.

-turns out one of the front rotors were warped/defective. at first we thought it was the hub, since i got em off ebay...so i went to autozone and got 5 new wheel studs. but when we put on the rotor again it was still wobbly. so on a hunch i test fitted one of the rear rotors. sure enough the rotor was the problem. i had to drive to the napa warehouse about 20 min away to get an exchange, since the stor i bought the rotors from only had THE 2 ROTORS I BOUGHT. i made it with about 10 minutes to spare.

-the fronts were simple and pretty straight forward. the rears? total cluster fuck. i rented a hub puller, anticipating that the hubs would be rusted on...i'm not sure if that was the case but they were stuck pretty damn good. but, my brother decided to use a brass hammer to get the axle off the hub. so guess what? he mushroomed the part that the nut screws on to. he had to file it down and impact gun the fucker on. needless to say i'll probably need a new driver side axle

. used the puller on the other side and things went much smoother.

so in the end a project that should take roughly 2-4 hours with 2 people took about 8 since i had to so much driving around for parts. i had to remove the plastic under the front fenders since the tires would slap em when hitting a bump. i also discovered my ball joints are shot, and so are the bushings on my tie rods. oh and i'm pretty sure i need new tension rods. and i need new struts on all 4 corners as well

. but by 1100pm saturday night my s14 was finally sitting on some new shoes. i like how it sits, and i dont think i wanna lower it *shrug* or if i do i'll go just like an inch since it's my DD.

old wheels: 4 lug 18x7.5 (offset unknown) sportmax rims sitting on falkens, 225/40/18

new: 5 lug MB battles (bronze) 17x9.5 +15 offset. riken raptor tires 245/40/17. they clear the front shock body but i'll def. need spacers if i do coilovers in the future.

jason you need struts? perfect time to get coilovers! If you need tension rod bushings you have some choices. You can get adjustable pillowball tension rods that will actually adjust your caster or you can just pop some energy suspension polyurethane bushings in the stock rods. That's what I did, the bushings are like 30 bucks and the only thing you need to do is press out the stock bushings with a press. I did mine at work, if you come by when i'm closing (keep it ninja) I can probably press them out for you.

I need to change mine over, they are wasted... it even looks like they leak..wtf... I like the pillow ball type tension rods. How did the ES bushings feel? i haven't even considered them.
