I get these guys are only there for the competition aspect but god does it make the sport look like shit.

that's been a problem with proam, even pro drifting for years. people think the ends justify the means, but in pursuit of their dream they are damaging (what's left of) the image/reputation of drifting as a whole. drifting isn't allowed at countless tracks because the first thing track owners/officials/shareholder/organizers see about drifting is ratty piece of shit cars crashing or doing illegal stuff. tasteless, ignorant fools always gotta ruin things for everyone.

I've been spouting this argument for years. I've seen the rise, peak in 2009-11, then the endless stream of garbage since.

It's really hard.

I just do the long drive down to OR to drift usually unless I wanna meet up with some north WA guys I used to drive with a long time ago.

I don't really get it either. Its like that dude deliberately went out of his way to make the car shit.

I don't know anymore. I've seen written rules of match panels required but then I always see pictures of dumpsters so its a mystery. I haven't been for a couple of years.

I know waaaay back it was super lax. Basically as long as you had a battery tie down, seat belt, and weren't leaking like sieve you we're G2G. Panels didn't mean shit but then again it was like 2009 and Ken Block crowd hadn't really shown up yet.
