Thanks for bringing that up, forgot to include that info! The thing to note that each company rates their treadwear differently, so 180 treadwear with one company may be completely different than 180 treadwear of another company.

Keep in mind that sticky tires usually have lower treadwear; however, these are definately streetable/daily drivable.

For SS595: 240 on most tires, 260 on some.

YES WE DO! In fact, one of our customers w/ an AP2 s2k (black, not white like in your sig) runs a set of 595RS on his car. The stickiest "street" tires Federal has to offer! Of course, with that, comes a higher price tag, but still a very good deal relative to comparable tires. These things are super soft compound.

funny cause everyone used to dog on me for using the cheap federals. but they go and bust around 100 bucks for each falken...i buy my federals for 60 bucks each. i cant complain

Same thing w/ the Falkens when they first came out, dirt cheap! No one knew about them, then they started getting exploited on the track - everyone gets them now.

are federal getting better quality when compare with 1-2 year ago? my first set of tire on my 240 is federal S595, i dunno SS is better or just the same but S595 just cant do the job, it even blew on me one time on the freeway (inside sidewall cracked less than 3 months). so whas the difference between S & SS ?

Never heard of the S595. The SS595 was redesigned a few months ago with a different sturdier tire compound. It is unfortunate to hear about your incident; this is the first time I've heard anything like that from a Federal tire. There could be a lot of possibilities: shop gave you a federal tire that was sitting around a couple years, installer didn't do a proper job installing the tire, tire pressure could have been set too high or too low, etc. I'm hoping your brought this issue up with the shop you bought this tire from or had it installed at.

At least they aren't Firestone tires, huh?

215/50/17 are scrapping for me upfront, it could be the bad offset of my wheels, but would 215/45/17 help the scrapping a little? And these tires do have the rim protector right? Not sure what it's called, but if the rim was curbed, it would hit the tire first, not the rim, do you get what I'm saying? L O L . Anyways, I'm ready to order, and if I order by tomorrow, could I get it this weekend? 29323 is the zipcode. So many questions, sorry. Let me know though, Thanks!

If your car is lowered at all, you shouldn't be running a 50 series tire on a 17.

50 series are for 16s and 15s.

Get a 45 or 40.

dreaMervaj, You current setup is wayyyy offf stock sizing.

Comparing to stock: 195/60R15,

215/50R17: 4.91% diameter difference, which will read 5.165% slower on ur speedo than you are actually going. That's worse than most people who go 18" rims...

215/45R17 is a little better: 1.63% difference, 1.656% slower speedo reading

215/40R17 is better/worse compared to 45 series depending on what you like: 1.82% difference, 1.85% faster speedo reading.

If you are only replacing the fronts, this won't really matter as much (this is more reference for your rear tires )

I personally prefer the 215/40R17, but of course, up to you.

The sidewall on the Federal tires have a rim protector. Most of this protection depends on if you are stretching (or squeezing) a tire onto your rim.

I'm guessing you are running your 215 on a 17x7; Federals should provide decent rim protection.

Since you mentioned you are rubbing in the front, I suppose you want 2 tires?

*oops, missed a question.

As for the rubbing, it depends on what is rubbing where. Either a smaller sidewall or stetched tire to clear, or non-tire solution, aka spacers or different rims... all depends on what your problem is exactly and how you want to go about it.

*A 215/45 will help if the very top of the tire was rubbing. If the sidewall is rubbing, your better option would be a 205 tire if you don't want to go spacers...

Shipping is currently $85.66 for those 4 tires to you. Keep in mind that UPS shipping prices are increasing in January 2007. 235/40R17's should be back in stock by the time you order.
