KA24de Head Gasket Problem's

I recently blew my head gasket and have been working on replacing it. I ran into an interesting issue when I unfortunately left out one of the alignment dowels during reinstallation. The head gasket was about 1/16th of an inch off. So I took everything back off in order to fix this problem. The more concerning issue was that the head gasket was not crushed at all. I did as the factory service manual said. Both services where checked for warpage, head was resurfaced and block was resurfaced 4000 miles ago so i did not bother, I just cleaned it with a scot bright pad to get the old head gasket marks off. then began to assemble with ARP head bolts. 22 ftlb 44ftlb, completely loosened. then 25 ftlb 50ftlb 75ftlb, all in correct order that was provided by fsm. I have ARP studs and there torque reading was 70ftlb. I chased the threads with an old head bolt before all of this, the threads felt clean and i used ARP's fastener lube. What would cause the head gasket to not crush? I already bought a new gasket (Felpro, same as before) and called ARP to make sure I can reuse there head bolts. they said it was fine. do the studs go into water jackets that would throw off torque readings? is the number of threads left on the stud after the nut important? i don't have many threads left. would oil on the head gasket throw of readings or cause this? i was just trying to think it all threw and do it right this time. any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks: kie
