Some say to rev to 4,000-4,500rpm and slip the clutch out as fast as possible w/out spinning the tires to keep the car in powerband from the start. Note: VERY hard on your clutch.
Others say to rev to 2000-2500rpm and just drop the clutch and mash the gas. Note: (IIRC) hard on tranny, mostly just on high HP cars.
The exact rpm also depends on your tires grip.
Just go to an abandoned road and try different ways, see how high you can rev and drop you clutch and retain traction. For the best launch expect a little tire slip, but not a full spin.
