87 Nissan 200SX s12 s14 SR20DET build!

Hello my name is Christian I've been on Zilvia for awhile now and I've owned about 14 different s13s, s14s.
They are awesome cars however I wanted to build something a little different so I purchased this s12 off a guy in Long Beach for cheap back in August of 2019.
It took me a full year to get it to where it is now, when I bought the car it came with
full s13 front suspension stance coilovers, pbm arms
rear s13 subframe conversion which not a lot of s12 guys do cuz its pretty hard
tomei 2 way diff
fully adjustable arms in the rear with Porsche shocks and z32 aluminum uprights

this is how it looked when I had the car picked up(not me in photo lol):

this one is a little rarer because it came with a vg30e but the car wasn't running
and I had my mind set on swapping a sr in it so out goes the vg

Once I had the motor pulled it was time to prep the engine bay for paint.
this isn't a show car so I just rattle canned it black came out ok.

Also before I painted the bay I made holes for the IC piping
they're not perfect, I also added rubber grommet

the rear hatch glass was shattered and trying to find parts like that for
these cars is a bitch! its not like 240sx where there's plenty of parts
luckily I found a guy in Oakland so I drove 5 hours to pick it up
and this is how we strapped it to my friends Yaris lol

Installed

My rack&pinion was leaking so I got a new reman one from vatozone
I also installed new bushings but didn't snap pics of that

Alright so this is how I bought the motorset. the bottom end was
already assembled and was bored .020 over
has Wiseco 86.25mm pistons
ACL race bearings
Eagle H beam connecting rods
head is stock, had oem turbo
the motor was missing a few things I had to piece together
but got everything for $1200 which I thought was a really good deal!

Tomei head gasket I also used ARP head studs.

the head was hot tanked and decked. and tested
fresh from the machine shop

getting there haha I also had the valve cover powdercoated

ACT lightweight flywheel and exedy clutch

transmission is mounted!

putting the motor in for test fit. the sr bolts right into
the s12 but since the car had a vg30 they sit higher
so that's why I got bmw motor mounts to lower it.
oh and I did all this by myself in my garage!!

trying to figure out the intercooler piping.
CX racing FMIC for s14 sr20det

I cutoff the recirc pipe and had the BOV flange welded in
along with the IAT sensor

I'm surprised I got the FMIC to work with the s12 lol

trying to figure out how the radiator was going to sit

had to cut some of the bracing on the hood

bought a Tomei cover and drive belts

bought a timing chain tensioner from MAZWORX such a nice piece

circuit sports 3 inch turbo elbow

tomei 87.1mm headgasket

Probably the best purchase I've made for the car is this
wiring specialties universal standalone engine harness

Tomei Expreme turbo manifold

new oem oil return hose and bmw motor mounts lol

750cc five o injectors

Garret GT2871r brand spankin new lol

oh yeah

swapping a couple things over to the new turbo,
I did run the oem one for a bit but had to upgrade

the water pump was leaking so I replaced with
a new oem one! this is a must buy forsure

Alright now that most of the motor is done, I swapped out the fuel pump for a walbro 255

old left vs new right

then I installed a tomei 2 way that I got with the car

relocated battery

putting the motor back in late at night

its in! lol

had a extra pipe for the air filter

bought a GK tech clear CAS cover

all buttoned up

Great parts, excited to see an S12 done right for once.

Question, do you know if all ACT flywheels aren't proprietary? What model is yours, and are you sure an Exedy clutch is compatible?

Thanks!

You have an interesting build out there. It seems like this car will keep you busy. Good luck and have fun modifying this car.
