Yeah, I never understood that except huge gussets do look badass. My cage builder said he won't do big gussets. He wants the cages he makes to fit really well. Plus smaller gussets, especially on the a pillars means more room

The cage we are doing currently, the main hoop is practicaly pushing against the walls when they bend. Would do closer on the sides but the S chassis have a bend at the bottom that doesnt allow you to get closer unless you were to cut it.

Here are some Nissan cages I did at my last job.
This was a GTR that I fit the forward hoop in place of the stock airbag....all the dash and the a pillar panels stayed uncut... dimple die gussets? what for? lol |

For those that have painted their cages. Mine is almost done and I was wondering what is a better route to go: Get in there and spray it with a gun or roll it on with a brush?

This is my R32. It will be arriving August 10th in Jacksonville. I have been waiting to see the car in person before I decide what to do with the cage, but my husband works in one of the biggest steel shops in the S/E so modifying it and getting more out of it than what it already is (I assuming a bolt on) is definitely in the works. I would also very much like leg bars added to the doors. Not just for looks, but performance as well. No idea if this is just blue from the wrapping or if it a Cusco part. there are lots of other Cusco components to the car, so it maybe as well.
The car has since been painted LP2, so not so sure it will be staying blue regardless, but that is the least of my priorities right now.

Looks good. usually if we have a shell that we plan to waste. If it is a decent frame then we will cage it as well but then sell it. People actually like having that since most of the time they either dont want to pull apart their car or they have a daily that they dont want to cage/race so they usually will buy the pre caged shells instead. Just a recommendation. Looks dang good.

That is not a bad idea actually. The frame is straight and body is fine. Once we get the cage certified it may be posted as a rolling chassis. We have kept all of the bar lengths and bends (rotations as well) in our 3D software. We were thinking of offering weld in cages for that actually hug the interior sheet metal. But offering a rolling chassis ready for someone to build out to their liking is a good idea too. |

Here's my basic four point. Got my tubes bent and coped at Roll Cage Components, picked them up and welded it in. Picture is from two summers ago. I'll find more and add to this post.

Does that not have a main diagonal on it?

No it doesn't, just harness bar. I'd like to add that in at a later point but am unsure of the fate for this shell. Might be ready to go to coupe.
