Hey guys been reading through this thread after deciding i really need a roof rack to haul my wheels and tyres to practice days as i cant fit enough in my coupe.
Im from England so would have to get the Yakima stuff shipped which would be mega expensive. Cant find any dealers over here that sell that Yakima stuff either. Plenty of places sell the Thule gear though. Found this link earlier in the thread about the Yakima Q38 clips.. http://www.rackattack.com/product-pa...structions.pdf And found an online dealer over here who sells the Thule racks for the Legacy Wagon and Lexus ES300. http://www.roof-racks-uk.co.uk/cgi-b...u&model=Legacy So i was kinda guessing/hoping, seeing as the Yakima Q38 clips fit Subaru Legacy's, Lexus ES300 and of course the Coupe's, that a Thule kit made to fit the other cars would possibly fit my Coupe? Maybe a long shot but what do you reckon? Thanks in advance! |

if you're looking at this link:
Yakima Racks - Q Clips 38 / Q38 Clips - Fits Ford Hyundai Jaguar Lexus Mitsubishi Nissan Toyota Subaru Car Roof Racks there are same references, so I think it'll be ok. I was crossing references with Thule, and I found that the 950 adaptor+762 bars+009 kit, will fit on 240sx HB |

Picked up the older SST bases for 20$ with y6 and y30 clips. I just modified the y30s to clip under the trim piece. (Basically bent a lip on the end). Has anyone had experience with that piece being a decent point to anchor the clips?
I haven't had anything up there yet but I'd like to make q basket out of wood with extra feet on the bottom to spread the weight out a little more and put my stanley boxes full of RC car equipment on top of the basket. The wooden broomsticks are temporary. I'll be using aluminum bars instead. Pics for reference. Before I cut the bars to length. |

See this is what Im talking about. This is putting your roof rack to use. Not to fucking roll into a meet or show with your color matched hype beast fixed gear. or near immaculate bmx bike. i hate those types of people especially when they buy the luggage basket only to put junk from their grand mothers basement for this sundays stanceworks event. LOL. lame. nice job keepin it real bro |

@nathanong87 thanks! what did you have on top, and how much weight?
i really appreciate seeing people USING it for what its for also, not for some "look". i hope your basket comment wasn't toward me. i have a hobby that i can't put all my stuff in the car so i improvised. but i see where your comming from.... fucking fanboiis...lol i'll probably have spent less than 100$ in the bases, bars, faring, and lumber to make the basket, when it's finished. |

I guarantee that wasn't directed towards you, but rather the HellaFlush Honda tools that are emulating the old veedub look with old luggage and kegs and whatnot on their hardparked show-queens.
Agreed though that this thread is for those that actually have racks on their cars to get use out of them. The whole reason I pieced together my roof rack is because I'm sick of the back of my wife's CR-V getting all scarred up from tossing my bike in and out of the back of it. Plus it'll be nice to have a place to put track spares since I don't have the room you hatchback guys have. |

Usually just one bike weighing no more than 18 pounds. I have a stretch kit as well so it spreads the weight out of whatever I'm carrying. At times I've had two bike on top weighing probably 40lbs combined. I do have a snowboard rack too but they were never used while holding a bike.

My one bike weighs about 37lbs and I've had two up top. The Yakima bars bowed a bit but no dents or any structural changes on the body. I want to try the Thule bars and see how they put out.

i used to drive 90 with my bike on the rack, but as soon as i put a second bike one it would make noise, like it was uneven and it was rocking.
but that coula been my fault in not putting it on right, or my car is twisted! which is a possibility haha.

Hey guys, I just bought a random thule bike rack for my s14. My friend's boss had it in a pile of junk and only wanted $10 bucks for it. The problem is I have no idea what kind of thule rack it is or what clips I can get for it to make it work for my s14. I have read from googling that thule fit kit #230 is what I need for an s14 but they are hard to find because they are discontinued. Any advice on what clips I can get for this rack to work on my s14? Can I get the yakima 38 clips and modify them to work on the thule rack?

U need Thule clips for Thule rack. Depending on how old the rack is might determine if the clips are available. I only know the part numbers for Yakima setups.

Would this be a complete kit with the exception of something like a bike or board mount |

I feel like bumping this back up as I got to put my rack on and put it to use for the first time this year... finally had some time after work to myself, so loaded up the bike and hit up Wash Park for a nice 7mi ride.
