Well I posted a page or two back of my s14 after a minor fender bender. Figured I would post up some more progress since Im bored.
This is what it looked like when I got to the body shop. Just pieced together for the drive. Here the damage to the core support and upper frame rail can be seen. Commence tear down. Exhaust manifold and turbo pulled, radiator, fmic, and everything attached to the core support and driverside fender removed. Core support removed as well as the inner fender and upper frame rail rough cut. All was down with an airchissel and some hand chisseling. Inner fender removed and frame rail roughly cut. Everything cleaned up and ready for the new pieces to be welded on. All the new pieces clamped in place and ready to be welded. Since I am doing this at a body shop I was able to use this crazy measerment tool to make sure everything was perfectly square before welding. Frame rail spot welded in place. This was my first time ever welding so I think I did pretty damn good. The guy at the shop is gonna go through tomorrow and run some nice seam welds over the important spots tomorrow. This was just to get everything in place and to stay. Another shot of the upper rail spot welded in. And this is how it sits as of the end of the day today. All work has been done by me at a local body shop and I have never done any structural work prior to this. The owner of the shop has only pointed me in the right direction. He will only be doing the final weld and rolling out my hood for now until I get a DMAX frp hood. I currently have a total of 23.5 hrs into it and should have it done tomorrow. Im pretty proud of my work so I wanted to show it off but not start a new thread. If anyone has any questions please feel free to pm me. Thanx for lookin. Cameron |
