nothing much to report, im waiting on parts again to finish the engine bay, and for the brakes. Im trying to get the car driving so i can get it painted next month and be done for now.

So as a result of killing time , im building a new harness for the engine, getting rid of all the stuff im not using and tucking it away for less visibility.

Example coil pack harness before

After

Still a work in progress hope to have the car drving soon.

So do you know if the new FX50 v8 will bolt up to your adapter when this thing gets tired?

PS. way to keep the details in sight, harness looks much improved!

I read on NICO or a 350z forum that the new 4.0 v6 6speed fit the new 4.5-50 v8's supposedly

Do you know anything about that new engine to be suggesting it ?

Vk's don't share the same bolt pattern.

The VH has advantages over the newer VK series end of story.

All I really know is that it makes 390 hp vs. 315
And with access to a junkyard...
Even a car/engine that only came out last June isn't off the table.

This is from edmunds.com:

Speed is the 2008 Infiniti FX50's prime directive. The 60-mph mark flashes by in just 5.6 seconds, as compared to the 6.8 seconds required by the FX45's 60-mph sprint. Plus, when the tach needle sweeps past 4,000 rpm, there is a conspicuous extra surge of power from the FX50 V8 courtesy of its sophisticated system for variable valve timing and lift.

VK56 is just too expensive to make it a worthwhile swap at this point, IMO.

Nice work GSracer, I'm excited to watch what your up to, I'm going to be finishing up my VH swap with Mazworx headers and transmission adapter once I get my car back out of paint. I think I'm going to build new coil pack harnesses too, mine are very brittle.

SicBastard - The newer VK engines have different bolt patterns than the earlier VH. I've confirmed this at a local Infiniti dealership that a friend is service manager at.

It's not that big of a deal though, an adapter for them could be made just as easily as this one if someone with the means like Mazworx wanted to take it on.

The VH45 is ideal on lots of different counts though.

People.

Shut the fuck up about the fucking VK.

If Jerry wanted to do the VK he would have done it.

But he didn't. He's doing a VH again, so let's leave the fucking thread alone if you don't have anything constructive to say.

This isn't a VK vs VH thread. Start one if you really want to talk about it.

Exactly that's all you know have you ever looked at these blocks?

The VH has a casted in brace the VK doesn't get other than that they are both the same. Minus the removable metric plugs the VH has.

This was already said.

The VK already has a 5 speed adapter plate made already to use with the 300zx transmission.

Shit, people got their panties all up in a bunch.

All I asked was if the VK would be a direct bolt in if Jerry ever decided he wanted to go that direction i n the future. I wasn't "suggesting" anything. Simple question. Thanx for the answer.

I plan on doing the VH45 swap in my S13 when i get back from tech school....so ill be paying very close attention to this thread for info to make my life easier. I never did see what tranny you used. I know they already make adapter plates that can be ordered to put a Z32 5 speed tranny behind the vh45....which is the route i planned on going considering how rugged that tranny is. I want to do a complete build and twin turbo it though. But good luck and keep giving updates.

Well been busy all week, got the engine harness done, it was a pain but looks much better. Plus i got to cut out a lot of unused stuff.

before

Moved the ignitors to the inside of the car, and finish both coil pack harnesses.

and here is the main engine harness

The tags are where i have to add another plug

Its not really a kit , i just pretty much hacked apart the old harness, shortend some ,replace wires that where corroded , replaced hard broken connectors and thats it. My main goal was get rid of the mess on top of the coils and place the ignitors inside the car, plus i wanted to remove everything i wasnt using all in all it was like 5 plugs and 17 wires or something like that.

As for the braided sleeving, its just nylon wire braid, you can get it at cableorganizer.com. They are close by in boyton beach, its cheap too.

Harness looks good - I dig the attention to detail.

I have that disease where my attention to detail is 110%, right up until the moment it runs/works, and then I just say "fuck it" till it breaks. Grats on keepin it nice after initial startup.

Its easy to pay attention to details when the car has no brakes/windows/interior/seatbelts and you cant drive it. However i promise you this as soon as the brakes get done, ill throw in my momo bucket, duct tape my self to the seat and take it for a spin lol.. windows or not.

This is one of the reasons it was easy to part with the last setup, while it good and worked great, there where alot of things i would liked to have done differently but couldnt due to time/money/creativity constraints. The last car after 6 months i just wanted to drive it so i hurried up at the end.
