Make sure the car is "level" when doing this. The front fender arch should sit about 1" higher than the rear.

Also, having a suction gun makes trans and diff fluid changes so much easier.

edit: had front and rear mixed up.

If it's not completely level, I always just put a rag in the hole, pump a little extra in, then put the plug in real quick ( with the rag out of course).

It's not a problem to have a little extra, but I bet it is a big deal to not have enough

Would my SSR Vienna Kreis use standard 36hole outer lips if I were to re-lip them?

RB strange idle Issue on first starting

so I finally got my rb25det started for the first time today, there was no knocks or smoke so I was pretty happy. anyway the car is having strange idling issues.

It won't really idle, and it seems kinda like it lurches when you you give it gas. you can rev it up just fine though.
One of the knock sensors had come loose, so I plugged it back in and it's still no good.

The tc solenoid or tcc or whatever it is
this thing vv

seems to be clicking a bunch and feels kinda hot, I don't know if that has something to do with it.

none of the rough idle google search results mention the tc solenoid.

timing seems fine as I did line up the belt and cams when I replaced the belt

has new spark plugs, I got the ones listed on the canadian skyline forum, they're ngk's but not the Iridium IX's I believe. I hope I didn't get like N/A sparkplugs or some shit, I got them because they pretty cheap compared to the iridium IX's and the engine is stock. I can always try out the old Iridium IX's and see if it get's any better

My father was there to look for smoke in the bay or any other problems when we first started it, and he said he thinks the timing is fine, but that it is missing with possible spark issues..

engine seemed to run better when I started it the first time, but is running worse now

I will be checking spark, just wanted to see if there was any common issues related to this that I should look for as this is my first rb

did you clean the MAF? look inside the plug, make sure all pins look consistent. pull the sensor itself and clean it with MAF cleaner!

I have a set of the JDM S14 light up kick plates, where do I wire the inverters to to have them come on when the door is opened?

The inverter has a ground and a 12v input, I checked the door switch and there is no way that switch will work the way I want it to.

unless the pins/contacts are pure white/silver, its dirty! especially if youve never personally cleaned the MAF, it wont hurt at all!

Bought this s14 about an year or 2 ago. Came with the infamous chain rattle. Today I pulled my front timing chain cover off and found out my lower timing chain guide is broken/missing... I've been driving it with no issues for the past year. How bad is it driving with out the lower timing chain guide??

So I want to look at some rx7 fc's for sale on here. I go to for sale, cars, advanced search, click titles only.

Searched: rx7 fc, rx7, fc

Shows no result, but on the first page it even shows 2 rx7 fc's for sale.... So... What to do?

Try the keyword "Mazda" and limit the search to just the Cars For Sale section.

Does anyone know what this Boar Tit is actually called?

We took it off of the firewall of a S13 'silvia' swapped coupe with a blown ka while we were swapping a s15 sr20 into it. I haven;t looked at my zenki, but someone said all 240's have them. Japanese designer running joke? Seriously though, we are only trying to figure out what it's real name is. It appears to be as useful as a boar tit

Currently finishing up my HICAS delete on my 91 hatch. Can anyone tell me the distance between the mounting holes for the toe rods on the non-hicas subframe? I will be making some custom bracketry in order to use adjustable toe arms.

I think it's a noise cancelling offset for some sort of vibration in the chassis.

That'd be my best guess, my S14 had one similar.

I have searched and searched and I think I have the answer. BUT I want to be 100% sure so here's my question:

I have an s15 hlsd with correct output shafts. I want to run 4.3 r/p. Will I be able to put in 4.3 r/p with the nismo 13mm bolts on my hlsd in my s14 non abs non vlsd pumpkin?

I want to be 100% certain because I have my 1 piece driveshaft for my sr and my s14 pumpkin.
I've read a lot of conflicting information

Question: Is the nismo thermostat really a must for track cars? The stock 170F seems adequate to me. 152F just sounds overkill.

I have a stock s13 sr with usual bolt on (exhaust and pbm high mount). I also have a bee r rev limiter with a boost controller and ras that I haven't installed yet.

My question is, would I be fine setting the bee r rev limiter at 7, 10psi boost and ras installed? Anyone had an issue with bee r and ras?

rev limit on stock SR is 7400rpms... not sure what youd want the rev limiter for? and yes, 10psi is fine; just make sure you have a walbro 255lph fuel pump and you may also want to invest in an adjustable FPR (Aeromotive or Tomei)

well, I installed the Bee*r because it's safer to have an ignition cut, rather than fuel cut (stock).

I have a brand new walbro 255lph installed and have a stock FPR. My current AF Ratio seems to be fine from what I read (idle 14.2-14.5, WOT 11.5-12, and cruise 14.8-15.3). However, my buddy suggest to purchase a SAFC2 to fine adjust settings (daily/track).

Since I have the Bee*r installed for ignition cut at 7k, would I be fine with an RAS installed too? Second, has anyone else have this "safety" setup as well (bee*r with RAS) to not worry about the rocker arm salad?

I've read many threads about running solid lifters, springs, valves, etc but I don't need to do it.

Will the arp bolt from a rb26 fit the rb25 flywheel? I know that the stock bolts are longer for the rb26 but I found several places that they sell an arp kit that fit both. Thanks

I've been driving it with no issues for the past year. How bad is it driving with out the lower timing chain guide??

you need to have the lower chain guide!

but to clarify do you mean the lower guide for the upper chain? do not need it.

if the lower timing chain guide is missing, replace it with a new one asap and be a good ideal to change your oil as there may be bits of hard plastic everywhere.

without the guide the chain will slap against the port where your coolant is pumped through. if it wears a hole in it, you will pump the coolant straight into your crankcase!!

in the picture. you can see the hole for the coolant to the right of the lower timing chain

Since I have the Bee*r installed for ignition cut at 7k, would I be fine with an RAS installed too? Second, has anyone else have this "safety" setup as well (bee*r with RAS) to not worry about the rocker arm salad?

I've read many threads about running solid lifters, springs, valves, etc but I don't need to do it.
in my 15 years of building these cars ive never heard of anyone floating a rocker arm on a stock SR pushing a stock turbo. before i forget, 12psi on a redtop IS stock boost, not 7 (7 is factory wastegate pressure). because youre not running the factory boost pressure solenoid, you boost pressure drops back to 7 by default based on the wastegate.

the thing about running an adjustable FPR is that youre running around 55-60psi in base fuel pressure right now because of your walbro. if you get an adjustable unit with a gauge, you can turn it back down to 37.5 psi which is proper base pressure. you should notice a difference in gas mileage this way.

dont bother with a SAFC, you REALLY dont need one for what little you have done to the car. if you want to go the stand alone route on a budget, pick up NISTune for your car and have it tuned. also, the consult cable that it comes with is a HUGE life saver when it comes to diagnosing anything wrong with the SR! if you wanna go a better and more expensive route, a PowerFC Djetro or AEM stand alone is recommended.
