They don't offer a lot of size options in the kind of tires I'm looking at, street drag radials. Most of them jump from a 275 to a 315 which is what I really want...might have to widen my rear wheels to get it done.

Does it understeer like a pig with the 265/315 stagger? At least until you light up the rear...

not really.. i dont think i have ever felt the car understeer except when it was raining on the track or i ran realy shitty tires.
With the Vlsd it did understeer a bit however once i got the two way it didnt do it anymore.

So is it just really well balanced, or is it all oversteer all the time? One end has to slide first!

id say very well balanced, but if you push it, the back end most definitly kicks out first,

Can you imagine running springs in the rear of a 240sx that were 40% stiffer than the front!!? That's what it takes to make a porsche handle near balanced. I'd suggest that to have truely balanced handling you'd have to run some pretty unconventional spring rates with a big stagger on a 240sx. And that you're probably better off getting as much tire up front as you're craming in the back.

If you're getting the Nittos, I'd say go for it. If you get M/Ts, I'd get a wider wheel.

Picked up a set of G35 wheels for really cheap. Wheel specs are 17x7.5 +25 [effectively after 20mm spacers] all around. Dropped on Tanabe Pro5's with aftermaket arms, rolled fenders all around. Whats the widest tires I can go with these wheels? Planning on getting 235/45 or 245/40 all around. Any opinions?

Please look at the tire manufactureres reccomendations for the billionth time.
Per the tirerack and Kumho, the XS 245/45/17 narrowest rec wheel is 7.5" Kumho Ecsta XS

![]() Running 235/35/18 front and 265/35/28 rear, was running 275 in the rear and 245 front with just rolled fenders, no flaring, could have fit a 285 in the rear but tires cost too damn much in those odd sizes.

So I decided on 275/40/17 Nitto Nt05 for the rears on these wheels (17x9.75") and I'm super happy with the size of tire for the wheel. It's got the exact square-ness I was after and is super beefy!
![]() ![]() I'll post pics on the car when I get the project that far along. I also went with Nitto Nt05 on the front but in 255/40/17 and they look great too, not too different than the rears just a slight roundness to the sidewall.
