From a gaming perspective, I don't think it's worth to OC for a gain of 2-3 FPS in 1440p with those types of temps.
I've seen a few gamers build their own water cooling setups with CPU blocks, lines, fittings and a tank/pump. I had Corsair's H50 in my system for a few years and it leaked. I am unsure how the new AIOs are reliable as the first gens had issues.

^^Agreed.
I see a lot of people hitting 5ghz and some even 5.1h but with little gain to FPS. Mostly just added heat and power. The 9900K is the first K cpu I have seen that seems to show little benefit from overclocking.

It’s more that it’s factory overclocked. It’s a 3.6ghz base clock that turbos upto 5ghz. Intel has just refined the coffee lake to the point of being able to have all the chips hit a high boost clock consistently. Skylake and Kaby Lake you were playing the silicon lottery to how good of a chip you would get. I don’t foresee any major gains until Cannon Lake goes full release or Ice Lake comes out.

Agreed its not worth it to OC 9900k for gaming, especially above 1080p. It seems to be very optimized from Intel already. Delids don't seem to offer much too cool temperatures.
https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3...4ghz-overclock Still I'd be dishonest to say Im not tempted at all to replace my 8700k even though it makes no sense from a functional perspective. |

^^^What are you implying?
Pretty sure S14DB means AMD is awesome but their market share is considerably less than Intel’s. I’m really hoping Ryzen 3 catches up with Intel in IPC. I want an AMD cpu that performs within 10% of the 9900K for $350 or less. Make it happen AMD!!

Wouldn't we all. I'd take 12% under the 2080ti for $700 please. Amd needs to release a card like what the 290/290x did to gpu pricing.

Even more reason why a 1080ti is going to be my next purchase.

There's going to be some 2080ti at $1k, but it's still a questionable value. It baffles me why the FE card's premium is justified. I'd also be cautious of how reliable it's going to be & available supply. It just seems like a huge hassle.
https://www.pcgamer.com/evga-launche...-out-of-stock/ 1080ti's are great used. If there are good prices on new cards, I don't know. B&H was selling them for $850. |

1080ti’s used can be had for 490-600 right now vs 1000 for this one card and $1200 or more for the others. You can get sli 1080ti for one 2080ti. NO WAY I’d buy a 2080ti.

This time the FE's seem to be Binned by Nvidia and people want them more than BP cards this time. Not a happy situation. People are buying them instead of 2080's because of the value. Now 1080Ti and 2080 prices are close together.
