im in the middle of assembling my sr, and im running Manley connecting rods...

heres the problem, manleys sheet specifies that the rod bolts be torqued down to 95lbs... while the factory rod bolts FSM is 33lbs... seems like an extreme difference so i checked ARP's site because the bolt is a ARP2000, and arp says not to torque their bolts past 50 pounds or so for the size i have.

so we got some plasitgage to check the clearances at different torques, and from 40lb's to 50lb's im staying right at .015 despite the change in torque which is in spec but a little on the loose side.

so sorry for the novel, but curious if anyone has either run these rods or has experience with them

thanks

don't have an answer for you

but when dealing with serious things like internals i would make sure i have the 100% correct numbers and not just what some guy says off the internet

if it were me i would call them up and clarify the correct specs and explain the situation

Is there a safety21 cage designed for an S14 with sunroof, if so, does it work in an s14 without sunroof?

i believe that you can use a sunroof cage in a non-sunroof car. the only thing is that there will be quite a gap between the cage and the headliner.

Brake line Clips

I'm installing all my engine bay components again and I've hit a snag.

I need all new brake line clips (the white ones that go on the fire wall) as they are brittle and have broken.

Where can I order these? "brake line clips" turns up nothing on AA/AZ, eGay et al.

Doubt it, you will need the long skinny type lug nuts, you can buy expensive fancy ones for like $75-150, or you can also go to Discount tire and get a set of silver ones for ~$40.

Don't buy the crap Advanced Auto / AutoZone as they paint on them cracks right off the first time you torque them and they rust to shit.

I was looking at Nismoparts, can't find them. I'll try tomorrow, never hurts... but knowing them, it might just be cheaper to buy a new 240.

Good luck, Courtesy doesn't stock them....they'll be almost impossible to find. I went to conceptZperformance.com and ordered a handful of the black two-tube ones and drilled extra holes...I can get pics tomorrow if you want. I may even have some spares...

i think this is a stupid question but im still curious since i haven't read a definite answer...
my analog climate control is damaged, gonna change it soon i was thinking about going DCC, can i use it without all the sensors and whatnot that it uses... i mean i only turn the AC ON or OFF i don't touch anything else ever so i was thinking if it was functional without all the auto sensors and all that...

another q

would removing the heatshielding off a ka24e downpipe cause a whole mess of problems or is it there mainly to keep the egt up for the cat?

after re-gasketing the whole exhaust the heatshielding is rattling and id rather not drop it all again to weld up the tabs
