if you raise your boost to 18 psi, and your reading 18 psi on your boost gauge, then couldn't you assume there isn't a boost/vacuum leak otherwise it wouldn't be able to read 18 psi... or i am just being dumb right now. best bet is to just make a pressure tester and listen for leaks.

^ that might all change depending on where your boost gauge is reading from

I run stock fpr... Works fine. I think I would check the health of your motor. If you were knocking maybe you made damage. And 256's aren't going to get you that much HP to tell you the truth....

ill try to get a dyno sheet up soon but I have:

2871r .64
HKS 256in/264ex
megan ex. mani
stock intake mani
and thats about it...

i really wonder if it IS the intake manifold...because i could save up and get a intake mani and bigger throttle body...could it be the spark? like its not sparking hard enough? idk...im pulling shit out my ass now.

im thinking i can buy other bolt on parts before i change the cams out...i dont know what to do...

Have you fellas seen 360-370 with stock cams, stock intake and exhaust manifolds? I have an s14 SR and about to go 2871 .64. The car has a ProEFI stand alone on it too. I'm looking for 350whp+ on 91 pump w/ all of the above being stock.

AND you made 323? On like 13lbs of boost? Come on that is hella good....

I have stock intake stock exhaust manifolds/cat/ exhaust/ 264's.... and I only made 317 on 16.5 psi.... but I wanted it conservative cause I track the car a lot...

O we did raise the boost to 18 psi, and it would have gained for HP for sure, but he would need to retune the whole thing, cause I was on a PFC and it was using the same load cells.

Werd. It will be tuned on a Jet too.

Other mods:

Sard 850cc
Sard FPR
Turbo Elbow
Downpipe
3" exhaust

I'm having Jason Siebels (the owner of ProEFI and ex-AEM EMS designer/engineer/tuner) tune the car too. Pretty sure he can pull it off actually. I will post video and dyno results by the end of the month. Thanks for your imput.

I just do track dayz and autox right now, because I am still working out sufficient cooling issues, aero, suspension setup, and basically driving skills.... Basically more practice. I don't just wanna go out there and Time Attack before I am sure i have all the tools to do well. Hahah

Aussie, from where he is only uses break eddy dyno dynamics.... Americans I think are the only people who use dynojets, why? Because americans made something so people think they pump out more HP than it really does....

DynoJet is actually industry standard. It's used by all of the OEM companies. Does it read higher than load based dyno's? Yes. But that still doesn't take away from the fact that it's industry standard.

It's actually pretty comical that someone just stated that 300whp+ is impossible on a 2871 w/ stock cams.

yeah. i was thinking that he was talking about a Dyno Dynamics.

i had no clue that the dynojet was a standard though...although the dynojet numbers make me feel better i still prefer to get my heart broken on a dyno dynamics

^^ Hehe, to each their own -- I'm nobody to take that away from you.

Just received a call from the dood who is selling me his 2871 .64. It's off his car now (only used for drifting 8-10 events). He's throwing in his Megan exh manifold in the deal too, but I think I'm gonna sell it and use the stock manifold instead. My car is 100% street and I'm more concerned about having a stable manifold rather than one that may affect more flow/hp but is more prone to cracking. The car should go to the dyno by the end of the month though and it's getting new paint. I'll post up a build thread when I'm done. Stoked.

Well we use DD and Bosch, Dynapack ( but these tend to read more beacuse its at the HUBS) and Mainline ( my favourite!)

300rwhp from a 2871R 52T is pushing it to its limits and probably at 20PSI of boost!!

Which OE?'

Most Germans use a brake -eddy dyno from a company in Britian.

not roller dynos...

I havent seen any OE's who use roller dynos for engine specs, most OEMs use Brake Eddy engine dynos and test motors before they are installed or produced into the chassis

on the note of the HP ceiling we are hitting with your Car Shawn...

I think a larger throttle body and greddy intake manifold and another dyno session might not be a bad idea, I will through in a return discount, OF COURSE MY MAN!!! you know I love ya. Let's go for more.

360 whp with a .64 housing would be killer on a DD espeically if we can pull it off on 91 octane.

a couple things to take care of though immediately

1. weld up that pipe it needs to be air tight, who knows what is actually happening once boost is really moving - this happened on my race car one time (tiny little boost leak off the throttle body nipple) we could never really see improvement over a certain level of boost on the damn thing because of it but it wouldnt really be noticed at idle or off boost because it was check valve or so small of a leak

2. check all other couplinks and replace anything even if it's questionable

3. Check your engine compression one more time to make sure the head has not lifted or anything wierd since we did the full rebuild on your motor (should not but why not check? ya know?)

4. Cam timing - PM me with your cam specs again for sure. I think Mike said we were running staggered? Right? (ps for the zilvanuts Mike Kondo is the one who does all engine building for Shadowerks customers p= and yes that's right I do full engine builds too now)

If we are running staggered it might be time to go to a 264 / 272 stagger and try that out or a 264 and 264 both sides step 1 so we can avoid having to pull the head and do stronger valve springs.

if you have a 256 intake then for sure this could be holding us back on our quest for 350 DD wheel HP on 91 octane

PS. for the Aussie I have tuned two cars with .64 housing 2871Rs up to 301 and 298 WHP respectively and they both had 100% stock engines other than FMIC and Power FC...not bad huh?

God bless the knock box and steady state

See guys!!!

spoken from the horses mouth, it is not common to see the high numbers I have been getting out of 2871R cars on the Brake Eddy dyno I use.

Just keep in mind if you are having penis envy of others dyno plots from roller dynos - aussies know whats up in the world of reality

^^ sounds good! im going to check all of the above and get that thing welded up either this weekend or next week.

I'm actually going to replace all of the nipples and couplinks as well just to be safe.

i sent you a PM with the cam specs as well.

i have to save up for the intake mani and throttle body for a couple weeks but hopefully by the end of july i'll be ready for a tune!
