You need to learn more before you say this. Its a very simple rewire to put zenki into kouki, or kouki into zenki. Its as easy as comparing FSM's. Same with all the other clusters for S14's. Getting the hud to work is an entire bullshit job in itself.

i ment that in a sense of plug and play, any one can make something work by splicing it. that being said i ment simply applying that to the hud situation, the kouki hud (this is a assumption ) does not fit the zenki hud cluster plug and play as the usdm cluster from a kouki wouldnt fit a usdm zenki plug and play.

Here are some pics of my ZENKI JDM Harness. Looks like on the Kouki Harness the plug for the H.U.D. is small and white. And the Zenki Harness(shown here) has a large black plug for the H.U.D. (probably because of the large computer on the back of the zenki cluster). Just a guess though.
Hope this helps! Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

That black plug with the blue tape might be our answer to the Zenki HUD.
I have found a plug that fits in the Zenki HUD that came out of the same slot as a digital climate control from a Q45 (same as the DCC from S14) It has 20pins total (10 on top and 10 on bottom) Here is a pic of it; Here is the back side of the plug, and as you can see it would need to be depined to be the same configuration as the plug you have taped in blue. This is the slot on the back on the Zenki HUD I'm talking about. ...And my plug fitting into it. Now if the plug you have with the blue tape is also the same configuration as this DCC plug (10x2), then this it has to be the answer to our problem. What is needed now isn't easy to do and may take up some time, but I've already done this for the Kouki harness, and this is to take off all of the electrical tape and trace the wires to where they originate from, while also noting the pin location of each wire and typing it up. There is an example of this already in this thread of the Kouki version. Since there is no known translation of the full Zenki HUD wiring this information you have would solve a lot of peoples problems and would make it possible to buy a jdm Zenki HUD cluster and wire it up. Ok. A little update. Ive put together a little info on this. Not anywhere near complete but hopefully helpful. Sorry for the crappy pics but i had to use my Iphone for a camera. LOL
The plug is a 10x2 plug. I used the numbers 1-20 for the pins. Im not sure what the actual pinning is for this plug because i cant find this plug anywhere in a FSM(factory service manual). I can only find the Kouki FSM for some reason. The Zenki used a 10x2 plug, where the Kouki used a 4 pin connector. Below is a pic of the plug for the Zenki HUD plug. This is the diagram i made for the Zenki HUD Plug. Below is a diagram i made of the USDM Zenki Cluster Plugs( M15), and JDM Cluster Plugs( M20). The only problem is i can only find a FSM with Kouki plugs (pictured below), not Zenki. Im not the best at wiring. Im still learning but let me know what info is needed and ill do my best to get it. If any one knows where to find a Zenki JDM FSM, let me know. I cant find one anywhere. |

Looks like your deffinatly getting there.
Here is where I have downloaded my last new fsm's at.. Index of /FSM/240sx Im kind of confused with your last pic, you mention you could only find the Kouki plugs - I might be mistaken but the Kouki non-hub cluster only has 3 plugs and the Kouki Hud cluster has 4, but your diagram has 5 plugs? On the back of my Zenki Clusters there are the normal 3 white plugs and 1 black plug and then there is the 10x2 black plug for the HUD and then another black plug going to the HUD display. The whole point of this is that I'm confused where the pins numbered 41-44 are located on the Zenki cluster. Since we are just trying to splice in the HUD cluster maybe a diagram that shows for instance Pin 1(HUD) R/G goes to Pin 9(Cluster), Pin 2(HUD) Y/L goes to Pin 4(Cluster)... etc, etc. would make it easier to wire into your car. Ill try and get a pick of the FSM posted but it shows 4 plugs for the cluster( the group of plugs are labled M20). Pin #'s 1-40. 3 white plugs and 1 black plug. It shows the HUD plug separate but only the 4 pin Kouki plug, not the 10x2 Zenki plug. So im still on the hunt for a FSM with the 10x2 Zenki plug in it.

Yeah its starting to look like the Kouki is going to be easier to wire in because thats the only stuff i can find in an FSM. Im still tryin though for my Zenki!!! Lol

Shouldn't be hard to get the kouki cluster going - the pin diagram for this is already on the second page of this thread, just need to find that illusive Kouki HUD plug Last edited by wbarrett48473; 05-31-2022 at 01:33 PM.. |

Another update. I matched the pin #'s from the JDM plugs to the USDM plugs and added to the diagram.
Pin #1- Connects to the Yellow plug behind the center console. I believe it goes to the SRS(airbag) system. Pin #16,17,18- labled in Japanese. Not sure what these do. Pin #19- JDM color is OR. Goes from JDM plug to JDM SMJ pin# R8. Not sure what it controls or what the USDM wire color is in this location for it to connect to. Cant find it in an US FSM. Any questions let me know. I think this is the info needed to do this install. If more is needed i will try to get it. I guess this is coming along well. Anyone know where i can get a Zenki HUD Cluster and a Zenki HUD Unit? I'm glad to hear you're still working on the project. Post some pics or vids when you get the chance. This is going on my things to do list.

There's also one of eBay with the cluster and the HUD that still has the Plug & wiring. cluster I think has pigtails. HUD Unit looks complete with wiring.

Hi, did you wired the HUD finally ? I have the same kit but not installed yet...I wonder if the HUD will display 199km/h or what ?
And I have one more question, Can I wire the Blitz 300km/h speedo, on to that JDM HUD Cluster ? thanks.. |

as far as i can tell the cluster itself doesnt change between hud and non hud. it has other parts either on/in it to make the hud work. so to answer your question about the blitz speedo, i would say it should work. and what wiring is there to be done for the blitz speedo? one thing to note is that the hud and hud cluster are accurate together, the blitz one might not stay true..

Hard to see in this pic but on the zenki cluster there is a orange/brown plug that goes directly from the speedometer into the display computer.
So, atleast on Zenki version the speedometers are different. As far as how high the HUD speed will display is unsure since this is still a ongoing project and as far as I know, nobody has retrofited it into their cars. The display on the HUD reads 188 so technically it could light up showing 199 km/h. I have heard of people hard wiring the S13 HUD into a S14 using just the HUD and Display computer, so I'm sure you could get it to work if you figured out the wiring. I also thought about buying the S14 Zenki Nismo Cluster that reads 300 kh/h but its pricey and looks like it would take a lot of extra work to get it functional so opted not to. As far as the kouki cluster I haven't pulled one apart yet to see if the speedometers are the same between HUD and non/HUD but I do know the only difference on the back of the clusters is the extra plug that comes from the bottom side of the Cluster and a few extra solder points. Maybe next time I get a change I'll pull it apart to take pics. Quote:
