Some pics from the part out and gutting the interior permanently.

I see a lot of long nights a head

I never got the rust on the frame taken care of when it was painted. Structurally, I would probably need some metal in there to hold this shit together on the track.

1 3/4" Dom Tubing for planned roll cage. Sheet and plate steel.

Im going to TIG the car back together, gives me more time on the welder as iv only been Tigin for a couple years.

First of parts I ordered had arrived, Cosworth Race Display. I had first seen this display in a newer 997 cup car, but wasnt my intention to get it.

I was looking at getting a PI research non color display, but they didnt have the particular standalone unit I wanted. They suggested their new Cosworth Pi ICD. After telling them what I needed, the harness was made and then shipped to me.

It has the coolest shape! so perfect, the alert light position and shift lights. Couldnt have done it any other way.

Billet aluminum, autosport connector. Very solid part.

Just some of the sensors I'll need to get running with it.

To replace all my electronics I have opted for Motec's Power Distribution Module. This thing is seriously bad ass. It will be programmed with Motec's software and controlled by a race grade key pad via can signal.

Sweet Autosport Connectors, many long lights spent wiring this bad boy up.

Package from Enjuku has arrived.

This thing is light, REAL light.

Quality of resin is okay, definitely not show quality but good enough for a track car.

My new steering wheel to replace the old Sparco deep corn. I needed a wheel where I can throw some buttons and no horn, Sparco makes some great racing wheels. They didnt have the combo with the center line and flat bottom. I will no longer have a tilt steering wheel so the flat bottom maybe important? I have yet to order the steering column.

Sparco wheel, Sparco hub right? I didnt want a lame quick release stacked on top of an adapter hub. So weld-on is the only way.

Carefully measured and marked where the buttons will go. The buttons will be needed for a few things: Page up, Page down, Acknowledge, Solid state battery isolator switch, Traction control knob. Threw it on the drill press and drilled a few holes.

Buttons placed in. Will need to get the steering wheel laser etched eventually to get the labeling done. Took me a while to figure out how most race wheels had labeled there wheels, thought it was paint stenciled.

Mini autosport connector on a motorsport grade spiral cord. Will need to figure a way to anchor it down to minimize stress on buttons/connectors.

Chassis/Interior Harness pulled out of the 240, work bench in the living room.

I will remove what I need and discard the rest.

I am only recycling the connectors for the lights.

Trying to figure out how to wire the retractable headlights without a timer and relay. Looking like it will be on a momentary switch to two motors. Meaning I will hold the button until the motor spins to desired position. They may not even spin at the same speed so i will have to play with the button to get them to the correct position. If i'm building a track car will I even need this? what about the extra weight? I would like to challenge myself with this build. My goal is to make a competitive super lap/time attack vehicle, while retaining the stock body or look. It maybe unrealistic, no turning back now.

Pulled out connectors with wires, then labeled and bagged.

The Trash.
Months ago buy, and a lot of research. Needed to figure out all the dash harness / cluster and ignition. Toughest part was figuring out voltage on a car you cant start. The cold start signal to ECU from ignition was a pain, good thing I have an extra 240sx to test with my multimeter.
Finally I have all that I need out of the harness.

Motec Keypad arrived, I purchased it at a good time. They updated the firmware on the PDM so I would not need the 600 dollar Racegrade gateway. Still ended up paying over a 1000 because I needed the Motec UTC USB to Can Adapter (350$US). Kinda over engineered for a USB adapter, its billet.
Steering wheel has a mockup for traction control but I dont think ill be wiring it in at this time. Im not sure when I will be able to afford a Motec ECU Along with Engine and Transmission. Will have to focus on the Chassis for now.

I figure I would need a sanitary workspace for this car. Garage got an update.

Is that the Cosworth switch membrane I see? If it is, did you order it from Cosworth or from somewhere else? I have been curious of the price, but never bothered to hit up Cosworth.

I have never raced competitively, just a few drift events and lapping days. I will put up the funds to put myself through race/driving school its big bucks though. This is a full privateer venture, I will be funding for everything and the build will be all done myself. The costs of all the tools, education, race safety equipment(helmets and other gear, and car parts (custom and bolt-on) is enormous.

There are no plans for that yet, as budget doesnt allow for it, but some form of SR. I can see myself spending 30,000 to complete the interior. After that is semi done, (Ill probably get the seat/harness/fire last) I want to get the aero done, diffusers and under tray and other things. Next would be drivetrain, diff update, axels, driveshaft, clutch, 6speed sequential. Ill have a year or more to think about engine management and an engine. The car right now has everything I need to get it driving, it will get updated when budget allows. I own 6 Vehicles, I'm thinking about selling some to pay for this build.

Its the motec version. I believe the cosworth membrane requires you to run their power distribution unit. Its stupid money, i got a quote from cosworth a year back. My motec setup is half the price.
