Power's used to have one of the coolest cars in FD. It seemed like he and Tommy Robert's may have been capable of saving Formula D from the NASCAR it is becoming.

Rumor has it that he's considering going V8 next year for a more reliable motor and more advantageous power band.

I can't wait for the day that Drop Spindles are readily available so that people will stop raising their cars for "Proper Suspension Geometry" and stuff.

its hard to legitimately go all out on drifting during this recession (living in california doesn't help either). I would rather have a clean daily then a beat up track car thats missing bumpers. If you can't afford to do it right, don't do it.

Look at any one of the last 3 year champions and what do they have? Not a slammed ass show car, and not a sr20. They have proper ride geometry and a v8. I know it sucks, I like the way his old green machine was too, actually I thought the rear needed to be just a little higher. But oh well, I would rather see his car in its current state then a nascar v8 scion tc out there. And for you z guys forsebergs car is running posi camber in the rear. If you think about it it make sense, but if you wanna car about how it looks you wont get it.

Everybody gets it. I don't even know why people still talk about it.

It's just like a band or anything that starts out small and gets big.

You start out small and you have a group of original fans.
Then you get to the point where you can try to "make it big".

If you want to go big, you're going to lose a lot of those original fans, but you'll also gain new fans who only know the bigger platform. You're going to have to change your (car, band, brand, etc.) to make it competitive at the bigger level. It's not going to be as "cool" as before (to those original fans).

That's all there is to it. Everybody should know it.

Just read any of the interviews he has done on speedhunters. He doesn't care about "looking cool" anymore. He is into drifting to be a "professional drifter". Done and done.

People don't realize drifting is not real racing anyway. 90% of it is style (who the judge knows/made out with/hates). There is a flipping category in the judging for STYLE.

the following is just my opinion (as we all got em right?)

yea his car probably looked cooler at the before point, but if you want to travel across the country and pursue drifting on a professional level, you NEED sponsors unless you are related to the gates family. There is just no way you can be self supported and do the traveling + driving that he did this year. Just like competitive sports, you will somewhat "sell out" if you leave your home club and more to bigger and better sponsored things, but in the end if you are trying to reach a high level of competition (or whatever), that's the move you need to make. Despite the whole "is drifting a sport thing", this is a philosophy i've believed for a while as i've grown up playing soccer and have seen "it all" with friends and their passion. ANY sport....u wanna get better? play or compete against people who are better than you, for Matt that is/was formula D. I honestly dont even know if he's getting paid paid, but hell, you only live life once and if I could take a year to travel the country, meet cool people, and drive my car at competitions, you better believe i would take the chance!

honestly i haven't followed this season at all beyond the status' off JR's FB saying how he's winning every round. personally, Matt is a really cool dood in person and that's pretty much all that matters to me at least. He was cool to took time to talk to me in NJ and just bullshit about cars, sunglasses or whatever. Cars can have navan front, eyelides, and stock mirrors, but if you are nice and cool IRL, then u are a friend of mine. Vice versa, you can have the "coolest" car in the world and be a dick and you'll make my "to kill" list quick. This is all probably really cliche, but oh well.

now if you own a kouki, that's a whole other type of hate you will receive...sike
