Had the car dynoed at Natural Aspirations over the weekend.
Happy with the dyno result. especially the torque. (Please read below edit) keep in mind that my car still has a cat so Chris had to pull a lot of timing out. There was too much back pressure. Mounted a new camera mount I got from ebay lol. super cheap! Can't believe I was using more expensive one that did the worse job.. this one is sturdy. Edit (4/11/2017) : I've been battling high exhaust temp and I have opened my engine after running this tune for a few track days. Bad news : piston edge melted from excessive temp. Chris @ Natural Aspirations is a nice guy and he is willing to help, but I would not go back to him for another tune. Last edited by battery1882; 07-06-2017 at 05:23 PM.. Reason: Do not recommend this tuner |

Update from SOW CCW event
This time I went with Nexen SUR4 because I've never tried them and heard many good things. They handled great and did not get greasy as quickly as the rs3s. Arrived at the track and signed up for Nissan Challange. All of the work paid off and I had a problem-free day (almost) which is always nice. Ended up beating my M3 time and also won the nissan challenge class 2. I'm looking forward to next event! first I need to change my turbo gasket Last edited by battery1882; 07-06-2017 at 05:24 PM.. |

So I decided to have the flanges welded. I wasn't comfortable with welding cast iron to cast steel, so heliarc_hustler handled it! Also changed out the junk gasket to nissan 4 ply from s14 SR. Started on the over fenders. Will update once I'm done! Last edited by battery1882; 07-06-2017 at 05:26 PM.. Reason: spelling |

Out of 5 bolts that are on the turbo to elbow, only 4 were safety wired, one that was not wired backed out good couple turns. |

Usually daily driving / wide open throttle for 10-20 seconds at a time doesn't really affect the bolt coming loose as much.
With this car, it's always boosting and staying at a higher temp. (around 1000-1500 degrees Fahrenheit and above 4000 rpm for 10-20 mins at a time) On top of that, I'm shaking the car left and right going through the turns. This puts a lot of stress on all of the turbo parts. My turbo to manifold bolt loosening was actually caused by one of the broken tabs (oem locking tab) that hold the nut in place. I should have safety wired them looking back. Thanks for the suggestion but I've welded the flanges now so it shouldn't come off. (hopefully) if it does, make sure to tell me "I told you so" |

I've never gone through one of the turbo-to-manifold gaskets... I always use new hardware and put everything together off the car though. Usually putting a wrench on it and then hitting that with a hammer to lock it down @ 83 billion ft lbs does the trick.

Good to see another fellow S-Chassis out there going against time! Great job so far, keep it up. Maybe one day I'll take the S14 Time attack car out there.

Did few things last night. went to APR and picked up a gurney flap. Hope I can tell the difference. Also rerouted my intake as I don't think pulling dirty air from the bottom is the smartest thing. Last edited by battery1882; 07-06-2017 at 05:29 PM.. |

Didn't get to go to Laguna seca as the wheel bearing on my 4runner decided to give out..
It would have been nice but I guess there is always next time. Fixed the wheel bearing and took it off roading. Lots of fun. Locked the key one day and this happened lol I wanted to block off unnecessary openings on the front bumper. I used NACA duct to pull in cold air to the intake Still need to build a shield around the filter. some carbon plate and duct tape to cover off rest of the area started with the splitter. Store that sells allumalite was closed so will be working on that soon. Happy new year! Last edited by battery1882; 07-06-2017 at 05:31 PM.. |

I went to denco (http://www.dencosales.com/index.html) yesterday to buy some alumalite / aluminum composite panel but they didn't have anything thicker than 6mm. I am gonna search little more to look for it. worst case scenario, I'll buy plywood.

I'm following this thread. I need to make a splitter to protect my bumper not so much for performance.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know im your new biggest fan. I could have warned you about the 4 turbo to manifold nuts being the #1 issue. After years of troubleshooting my only option was to safety wire, but when I had my turbo out last time I didnt even want to try to figure it out I decided I will just weld them together next time they come apart. I cant wait to see you at the next Nissan Challenge event. I saw your car up close at SOW but I had not seen your build thread til now. Woooo. I love 240 time attack builds done well.
