Visited Hypertune to see what was happening with the car. Was pleased to see my new 40mm PWR radiator core had arrived from Queensland. This will be receiving some billet end tanks that have yet to be made.
They take their packaging very seriously. You could drop this out of a plane and it'd probably still be in one piece. (Ideal for couriers) :P Here is where the magic happens. Rough location of where it will sit. This radiator support bracket has yet to be patented. (if you can even see it) Tested with a tick. More soon! |

Mitch from Hypertune gave me a call to let me know he'd be working on my plenum today. So I organised to drop past and get some pictures while he was welding it up. Sorry in advance if you dont like welding shots cause I do and this post has shitloads of them. =)
He starts off welding up the end of the chamber. Once hes finished rounding the corner he does the whole back in one single run. I'm a noob welder and have had a go with alloy, enough to know how god damn hard it is to get it this perfect. Much respect to anyone who can weld like this. All done. I think he might have done this before. Pete holding the T/B flange briefly while its tacked on. Then mounted onto another dummy flange which is mounted in a vice. Nifty way of keeping it all scratch free. Then welded on in several sections, it gets very tight into the under side where the flange angles back towards the chamber. God knows how he gets it so neat in there. You can see the red hot tungsten glowing against the chamber here after hes backed the juice off. All finished ready to get the flange ground down on the inside. Looked like some sort of odd sculpture. It was really great to watch someone at work whos mastered their trade down to a fine art and can produce things like this. Especially with some retard sticking a camera in your face while your trying to do it lol =) More soon! |

Picked up a package from Hypertune yesterday which had arrived from the US over the Christmas period.
Turned out to be the Precision turbo I'd ordered (6262SP Ball bearing .84 Twinscroll). Basically exactly the same turbo as we ran on NFI's. I'm happy with how his power curve has shaped up so have gone with the same one. The Mazworx motor could take a size up with no issues and make more top end but I'd rather the stronger mid range, coming on slightly earlier and keep the revs reasonable. Not really chasing huge top end tbh I'll be stoked with reliable mid 300's on 98 initially. Oil feed restrictor complete with neon warning about rooting the turbo and voiding your warranty if you remove it. (the restrictor not the warning) T4 goodness. This thing towers over the disco I used to have on my car. I'm going to see if I can find my old busted stock T25 somewhere to do a size comparison photo. The sucky bit. I was suprised how nice the finish on it is. The cores on these are oil cooled only, I'm slightly nervous about the longevity of this thing because of that but we'll see how it goes I guess... .84 ts exhaust housing V-band flange and threaded oil drain fittings came with. Also got a gasket for the oil drain but will have to source the actual v band clamp as it didn't arrive with one. More soon! |

Dropped into Hypertune again this week to get some pictures of Mitch finishing up my intake plenum.
The chamber as it was when we picked up from last time. Cause of the hi-port design the runners wont stand up on their own. They've made this simple box section with a rejected flange plate so it will stand up on the bench easily to be welded. The CNC chamber base is then welded onto the camber itself. Lining the chamber up ready to go. Fits up perfectly. Mitch working his magic. Holes already punched to match up with the threaded vacuum block. I chose to have this on top for easy access. First tacked on. Then fully welded. A hole is drilled in the base also for the idle air control valve port. A threaded fitting is then welded on so a barb can be screwed in later. This means the IACV can be supported remotely. There is no extra weight or stresses on the manifold from having a large footprint welded on then the weight of the valve itself bolted on there. All done. Really happy with the result, will be getting some anodizing done as well before its finished. Inside of the flange has been dremmelled and then frapper disced down so the inside is nice and smooth. No flange lip in here anymore. Nom nom. I'm pretty blown away by the craftsmanship that goes into making one of these. Cant wait to see the rest of the pipework come together. More soon! |

Took a delivery this week of things I've been waiting some time for.
These Nagisa Auto tower braces, I'm pretty keen to get these on the car and see how well they fit up. Comes with this tiny sticker pack and no instructions just a page telling you there is no warranty. :P A bit reserved on how effective they'll be to be honest but I dont think they'll do any harm they're quite light anyway. Side profile. I bought a pair of S14/15 front hub/bearing assembly. The ones on my car had a slight amount of play in one side so the other one wont be far behind it. These studs will be pressed out and replaced with the longer nismo items I've already purchased before they're fitted. New N1 GTR Non-ABS master cylinder. We ended up using my Z32 one last minute to try and make WTAC in the S15 last year so I bought another new one (non abs this time). Thanks to the guys who helped with part numbers. BM50 interested to see how it goes with bias and the smaller piston. Hopefully pedal feel is nice. For anyone else who wants to order one. More soon! |

Are you gonna rebuild the front hubs like MotoIQ did? I just rebuilt mine on my S13... The Neo grease probably isn't needed due to its high cost but I think you can spare $50 usd
